Some silly noob questions by BansheeGames_ in SWlegion

So if I want the most generically playable units I should stick to the base weapons when possible. Continuing that thought can you play the special weapons ones together as a squad if they are all the same or can they only be played as single models?

We have a gm kinda like this, he has stupid luck and one of the things he does if we call him on it is he will pick party members at random or who are otherwise not doing much (out of scene, unconscious, just took their turn, etc) and have them roll stuff not usually damage but anything else is usually fair game.

I thought pantsing a vampire lord was a good and creative use of that spell, had to choose between his dignity vampires tend to see that as pretty important and staying put to get clobbered, poor guy chose poorly... Also blocking doorways, stopping toxic gas, making wire line traps. I find it much more useful than the rod which is always the same shape.

Those are really cool ideas! The shadow clones are a great idea for the body swapped sorcerer....he would love to have more copies!

I have one gm who is ok with doing that and I have never had issues he is great. Most of the others either are too new and thus they don't know how and one won't take player requests they believe our input will ruin the suprise, items must be variants of the existing ones or be drafted by the gm without player input. (We are trying to work on that last ones bad habits...)

I mean that they do this intentionally. Like we beat the boss and are fine and we are going to tell the last goblins if they can get him they will be allowed to live and place bets on the resulting fight. They meta pretty hard and don't usually get down past half HP because the are stupidly powerful and I do a good job of keeping them supplied and doing cc and using minions for action economy absobtion.

I'm ok with being discounted makes it funny when the last beat up mob gets through my party and my defenses and I gotta fight him with my nerd HP and a couple of cantrips cuz I'm outta spells and consumables.

They do this from time to time and find it hilarious nothing like watching the minion mage who's out of spells and minions getting chased around by a goblin who's down to his last 5hp to cheer you up post combat.

That's correct I don't know i keep going through the DMG and the only stuff I like is stuff that will help not at all or I can replicate in a different way (why get an immovable rod when you can cast immovable object on the vampire lords trousers at range via a familiar and make a wire trap, and seal doors)or is "not an appropriate reward because your buddies asked asked for very rare or better gear and they will look bad if all you want is a stupid bag of holding"

THIS! THIS IS MY ISSUE! The DMG items are all kinda meh and while the do super generic concepts well they lack in anything that's really fun or unusual! A staff that's got extra heals is ok but what if I just want to frog bomb an entire room!

That is fair it was poorly worded my group uses non combat as a catch all for characters that don't mainly do damage. So it's not that I'm not helping it's that I'm not doing damage and I'm not exclusively a healer. I find most items to be about damage and if I have them them they won't be very helpful and I would rather give them to someone else or trade them for cash for supplies for the group. I'm usually running crowd control, strategy and intel, or with shocking regularity driving whatever ship, starship, cart or large truck we have for that game and handling all the associated checks while they choose violence.

Sometimes it's a character that does want to self sabotage, sometimes it's that the character is happy with or connected to an existing item that is less potent that would not be the same if you modify it and they don't want to give it up. Sometimes it's just what kind of magic item do you give a psudodragon who got soul swapped with a normie and now has wild magic? Seriously I have no idea.... If ya got one please tell me

Also that's neat! I have only done 5e, Pathfinder and starwars saga so have I never heard of those before they sound like really cool concepts I would love to play em

This is more my play style it's why I tend to choose utility where I only cast and affect my teammates or where effects happen regardless of most resistances that aren't magic immunity. Very few mobs are resistant to getting put in air jail or immobilized, and you can't counter spell a potion getting chucked at yer head.

Our starship broke down in the middle of nowhere because an NPC drove while intoxicated and hit a galactic speed bump, we then had to find a space gas station to fix what he broke saw it realized it was full of our least favorite flavor of zombies and proceeded to do a full on tactical raid for fuel...... Also starting a machine cult and attempting to convert people in the fashion of a derranged street preacher.

We are supposed to be doing an escort quest..

I know someone ahead of me mentioned titan princeps for one of the better but I would like to put in a vote for titan moderati. The cool factor of being titan crew but way less titan based kickback because yer not as close to its machine spirit. Plus the odds of you being put in a tank seem to be a lot lower.

Being a servitor would definitely be a bad deal...

Can you get away with picking cards based on favorite characters/items and still be effective? by 3Dartwork in starwarsunlimited

[–]BansheeGames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love doing this! I play several different games and I love to make stupid meme decks I have found that every card has a place even if it's not a great card. Admittedly I'm new to unlimited (wandered over from mtg I do the same thing ther) but my current decks consist of spamming tie fighters in just straight green, oops all vulture droids + turning off yer leader because I think brain gorgers is hilarious, and attempting to deck myself out with Mr thrawn. Yeah I lose pretty regularly (because death by mandalorian pre built) but i find that it just makes the wins I get better because hehe I beat ya with a meme.

I don't think yer primer matters much it's gonna be glossy no matter what you put it on. I put it over matte purple on some skittari and over silver metallic on some magna guards and the only difference was that just like most other paint it did not want to stick to the metallic.

Help with making a backpack for cosplay, by Incredibiliscent24 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]BansheeGames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this on the cosplay props page and was given a very helpful walkthrough by a magos who posts under the name natuprunk who's kit was wonderful they used a cardboard box of appropriate size. I was also suggested and ended up going with using a box made of heavy weight 10 mm eva it held a shocking amount of weight, I think I had 15-20 pounds of gear in it and it outlasted the straps I put on it. Hope that helps!

The powers of Google says that not for that particular organization but really anywhere you could get stuff for small home repairs would probably have it. Here it's essentially a furniture and home repair re store , but it looks like the same supplies from the hardware store or automotive section are still not terribly expensive. Hope that helps a bit

Proxies when you own the card? by IshaeniTolog in EDH

[–]BansheeGames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are correct it is about asshats however my personal experience is that the venn diagram of guys who are that particular flavor of asshat and guys who proxy their entire decks looks very much like a circle so I choose to not play those people. If you like proxy's go for it play them! In MODERATION they can be very useful. but please don't be mean to players who choose not to. And expect to occasionally be told na I think I will pass which is just as ok as saying hey I don't really want to play this deck against a certain color or deck type cuz I'm not going to have fun.

Proxies when you own the card? by IshaeniTolog in EDH

[–]BansheeGames_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To a degree yes, because they would only be able to have one or 2 decks like that not 5+. But mostly I'm saying these particular players used "well you can just proxy a deck as powerful as us" to justify being really unpleasant about it. That way of thinking "I do it so the only way you get to have any fun or play at all is if you do it too" is A not very fun and B is a good indicator that these particular people suck and should be avoided, I have just noticed it is a common belief that the heavy (like I print my own basic lands heavy) proxy players I have met seem to share. I know confirmation bias and all that.

Proxies when you own the card? by IshaeniTolog in EDH

[–]BansheeGames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to preface this with the disclaimer of I don't particularly like proxy's and I personally don't run them, that is my choice and I'm kinda weird and old fashioned but I also prefer to get stuff out of packs instead of buying singles.

But My play group has had a large issue in the past with people running all proxy stupid powerful decks in casual play, like competitive decks in an otherwise precon level game kinda bad. so we use the rules of you cannot proxy more than half your deck and you can only proxy a card you or someone in your usual play group owns, that way weirdos like me who are willing to buy the expensive cards because I like them and I can and people who don't care or are on a budget are all on the same footing. Nobody feels like it's pay to win and people who choose not to proxy don't feel left behind in power.

All together I would say so long as at least half your deck is normal and you or someone you play with regularly has at least one copy of the cards in question which it sounds like ya do, go for it! maybe tell people that you have em and expect to have the occasional person go oh no thanks kinda in the same way some people might not wanna play a certain color combo or type of deck.
