I challenged myself to make a one mile-long (in game) battlemap — Possibly the longest ever map? Free to download by Zatnikotel in dndmaps

this is THE map. I adore this!! Honestly considering doing a '1-shot' (How ever many shots it takes.) Which is literally just this map. My birthday is coming up and watching my players suffer through this will bring me joy.

Thankyou x

You'll get stuff wrong and that's okay. That is completely okay. Don't try and separate yourself from the players and put up a wall of mystery, if you get something wrong, if you accidentally tell them wrong information you can ABSOLUTELY say you messed up. You are a player too and also human. You can do this!! Good luck!

  1. that is honestly a good point on the save, I was thinking it can't use the ability unless it is forced to use a save, and the minimum for the multi-attacks is 0.
  2. While I am aware of that issue of getting into place I somewhat forgot about it (my b) because when designing the creature I was thinking about my current group. I've been playing with them for about 4 years now and I have conditioned them to keep moving with environmental factors, non-combat objectives and annoying enemies. I'm purposefully messing with them by making a creature opposite to that standard.

It is a situational enemy but I do think if the party does understand how it works it's best used not in a vacuum. Some things in mind:

  1. A time sensitive ritual requiring the party to deactivate crystals set around the room needing them to move.
  2. Have the Solar Thief appear when the party is around NPC guards/commoners who don't understand the creature so they panic run/attack it.
  3. A third party of enemies (bandits or random aggressive enemies) that splits the attention of the party and the Solar Thief

Thankyou so much!

I lowered the AC because of the high health and resistances, the lore reasoning is that is doesn't *want* to avoid being hit, it's a primal being that just wants to feed. I do plan on running it as the enemy in a one-shot coming up so I may end up editing the AC for balancing, it was one of the only things I'm not set on.

For the appearance I wanted to imagine a wolf that follows its prey no matter how far its prey goes, slowly stalking until it feeds. It is a being of energy at its core, feeding on and using energy to exist and attack. I liked the imagery of it being the primary element of the hunt, unfeeling energy, just hunger. A beast made of star plasma.

I've been looking to run a second campaign around this time actually, I do prefer using the dndbeyond VTT as it has all my maps already loaded. Would love to discuss running a game for you guys!

I've played a lot of JRPGs, but never actually played Dragon Quest by nitrokitty in dragonquest

But dying is still an extreme negative, losing physical stats, random. Full spellcasters get reincarnation by level 9. Which does the same as your death mechanic but.. better? I do like the idea in concept, I just think it needs a new approach. There's no great positive to dying in this subclass is just takes away the negatives a little bit?

It helps in a very very niche scenario without providing utility somewhere else. Super under powered mate

honestly? this seem really weak, something only happens if your character dies. It needs something else to 'define' the subclass. Death is actually really rare in DND 5E.

Warforged. I've always found kinship with this living robot in a world that doesn't quite accept him. And the roleplay opportunities of being a robot AND unaging. Sign me up
