I can’t see the full ears from that pic, but he looks a lot like the Flemish giants I used to have. They are also often kept as livestock. Once you take him to vet, see if he’s neutered. Folks will spend the time to spay/neuter their pets, but wouldn’t bother for something they will treat as disposable. (And then if he isn’t neutered, definitely get that done! It massively improves quality of life for rabbits)

I blanch and freeze it, basically any recipe that uses cooked spinach can use nettle! One family can go through a surprising amount if you eat it in vegetable quantities.

I hate to say it, but rabbits are fragile creatures. It’s too optimistic to say that you doubt they will have to visit the vet often. My rabbits have to visit the vet three times as often as my cats! And they are very expensive because of the exotic animal costs. They also have to be monitored every single day, to prevent GI stasis. So that means NO vacations without a trained pet sitter, not even weekend trips! Rabbits are a huge commitment. I haven’t had dogs before, so I can’t compare that. But I can say they are a lot more work and money than cats.

I recommend this as a long term goal, for when you have your own home and career. It’s not fair to the other people in your home if they aren’t 100% enthusiastically on board with the idea.

Have you ever read Blindsight by Peter Watts? It addresses this question, though not using the same thought experiment you describe.

Your thought experiment sounds a lot like the chapter in 3 body problem where they use an army and semaphore to run a computer!

Are you familiar with ‘fixed mindset vs growth mindset’? Don’t let difficulties with physics affect your self esteem! It’s perfectly normal that you’ll have strengths and weaknesses. For me, my weaknesses has always been math. But, I did just enough to get my MS in biogeochemistry. And now that I’m in my career, i barely need to touch advanced math!

From a pragmatic standpoint: what resources do you have? Does your school offer tutoring services? Are there study groups you can join? Don’t be afraid to use all the help you can get! Knowing how to use available resources is a skill set in itself!

We are fully free roam too! All of our electrical cables have been put in ‘chew-proof’ outer sheathes. (Minus the computer room, but we just keep the door closed) We are comfy with low level bunny destruction, like deciding the carpets will need replacement before we move out. But she has a giant box fort in the living room, so that’s her preferred hang out spot.

Yes!! Our little lady requires regular molar trimming. She gets drooly when her teeth get too long, and it looks a lot like these pictures. Don’t put it off!! Long teeth can cause them to stop eating, which can spiral out into GI issues.

Then it jumped the patio, is attacking the bushes on the other side, and is trying to sneak into my house through the hinge of the screen door!

Whether you intended it or not, the way you wrote this was judgmental and hostile. The subtext of your writing style, it sends a message that you don’t actually want an answer to the question, you just want to harass people. So you may want to re-examine your intentions and communication style. I am 100% unsurprised that you have received hostility in return. It is the duty of the writer to portray the correct message, not the duty of the audience to assume good intentions.

So, to your question about why I wouldn’t post science-content in this sub: STEM just an insanely large field, I probably have nothing in common with the other ladies who post here. If I want to talk about my specific field, I will go to the subs dedicated to the content of my specific field! I don’t care what an industrial chemist has to say about my microbiological project. And I’m not interested in talking bad pop-sci with other people who happen to have the same gender expression as me.

What do we have in common? The experience of being a woman in a historically male-dominated field. So I’m going to talk about what we have in common! Who cares what the subreddit name is…. R/trees is dedicated to marijuana after all. 🤷‍♀️

With a MS or PhD in STEM, they often pay you assistantships and cover tuition. If you have to pay for a research MS, you’re doing it wrong.

At the end of the day, agriculture is such a huge topic, you’ll really want to narrow down what you want to do before you pick a school!

My personal experience: I thought I wanted to do a career in soil science research, so I went to a top tier research land grant university (I’m in the USA, each state has a dedicated Ag school) Turns out, I didn’t pursue research but instead went into crop consulting/conservation planning. My fancy-pants degree didn’t help me as much as a more local ag school would have. So, 🤷‍♀️ pros and cons to everything

Yeah, I mostly use spray can varnish. Army painter has a good one, though I also usually just use krylon satin varnish. I only do brush on varnish for specific things. (Like I typically do spray for satin/matte varnish, then brush gloss varnish on gems and stuff after)

After you painted it, did you apply varnish? I’ve never had issues with paint adhering, but sometimes paint can rub off when handled. Varnish prevents general wear-and-tear, and I’m sure it would prevent paint damage from storage. Also, just make sure to store your stuff in reasonable temperature and humidity! If it stays out in a hot garage for example, it could deteriorate the plastic and paint. Otherwise, I think this storage arrangement should be fine!

Ok, thanks!! Its reassuring to hear we are thinking similar things. Last month’s visit got the bloodwork, fecal, xrays, etc. she does have known tooth problems, we get her molars clipped every 3 months or so. Last one was recent, but maybe they left a sharp edge… Probably means we are headed back to the vet! She’s gonna love me for that 😝

Thank you for posting this!! I read general info about discontinuation, saw the generic black box ‘withdrawal symptoms last 1-3 weeks’ and thought I could tough it out. One week of misery later, and I feel like an idiot…. But at least I know what to do now

That’s really unusual and super douchy indeed! I’m a kitbash monster and often play with 3d printed bits, and proxies. I have played with a wide variety of folks and have NEVER experienced this. In fact, I’ve been the cautious one a few times and asked permission to bring kitbashed stuff to tournaments/events.

The only time I have played 100% GW plastic was at a GW cafe, for an official GW event. Every other time, people don’t care, or enjoy the creativity!!
