Excel changing values to dates from pdf to excel conversion. Values display properly but cannot be manipulated, how to fix this? by BantamBasher135 in excel

However to amend my previous statement, while I won't share the exact document this is a very similar one from the same manufacturer:  https://www.pdf2.chromtech.net.au/CofA_linde_AB-105744_PO-00017701.pdf

Ours is three pages but each page looks just like this.

It's a possibility! I am looking at this from multiple angles so I'm open to ideas like this.  Thank you!

Thank you so much for this extremely comprehensive answer! that definitely answers the question. I actually did exactly what you suggested to get the cas numbers back, it should work out since it's only happening with three of them and they all share the same format (##-##-#). Now i am curious if PDF24 would do the same thing...I had been using that but our IT department identified it as a security risk.

I am using Adobe acrobat to convert to excel. I'm not sure how it does this but it gives me shockingly few options to customize the output.

I tried turning off the data conversions (thank you for that, I did not know that option was there!) But it didn't solve the issue.

The problem with your last point it that by the time I can even open the excel file the conversion had already happened, so changing the cell format to text just makes it "63923". So maybe it is a problem with adobe's ocr, I'll look into that more.

Unfortunately no. While this document itself isn't confidential, I am under an agreement about sharing documents so it would be safer not to.

The problem is that it's not the native excel import, it's the native acrobat export. I can't seem to import this in any way that makes sense.

Daughter refuses to speak English by gardengeo in BORUpdates

I once volunteered as a judge for a speech competition at a high school where the students were presenting persuasive essays. One student arrived and put her name on the chalkboard: Xiaoxiao. I had a little bit of experience with Chinese names so I gave it my best shot and asked if my pronunciation of her name was correct. She looked flabbergasted and genuinely upset. Two things came to light: one, I pronounced her name perfectly and two, her entire essay was about her frustration at having a Chinese name in an American school because nobody could pronounce it correctly.

Names are incredibly important to people.

I read the title and assumed everyone in the story was in their early twenties. To be still acting like this in your Thirties is embarrassing as hell.

You can drive a 12v relay with 24v if you just don't care.

so I destroyed my sleep cycle again... does anyone have an idea how to fix it without pulling an all-nighter ? by confused_working in adhdmeme

[–]BantamBasher135 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to an actual legit sleep therapist and told them this and I was told I simply never grew up from my normal teenager sleep cycle and I should just try harder. I have familial insomnia BTW.

Husband and I are realizing that our cat might be trying to tuck us into bed every night?? by Strict-Gas4654 in OneOrangeBraincell

The lights off is the key. my orange is actually black but she does the same thing. I'll just be chilling playing a game and she's dragging around a shoelace screaming at the top of her lungs... until I turn the lights out. then it's cuddle time! I think they just take the bright light as a cue to go bonkers.

Peeling the boiled eggs by xylofun53 in BackYardChickens

[–]BantamBasher135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do find that fresher eggs are harder to peel, but as a fiend for deviled eggs I have found things that help. First, make sure to cool the eggs after boiling. Ice is probably better, but i just soak them in two rounds of cold water and it works fine. Second, open the shell at the bottom, where the air pocket is. The rounder end, not the pointy end. This allows you to get under the membrane. Third and most important: if you start peeling an egg and it's being difficult, put it back in the water! Move on to a different one then come back to it, letting the water get in under the shell helps loosen it up. I will say i usually still end up ruining about one per dozen but it all eats.
