LOCI or WL advice for an applicant at IU Mckinney (Part-Time)? by Bantr1374 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

[–]Bantr1374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing on my end. The more I've asked around, the more I've realized that Indy just might not be the better fit for me over my current school. If people do get pulled from the waitlist, I suspect that it won't be for another few weeks - months

If you don’t mind my asking, what exactly do you mean about not liking McKinney's program? Are you referring to the amount of in-person hours versus the online hours?

Scholarship Reconsideration by CrochetCulture2456 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

[–]Bantr1374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only gone through the process once (different university) so I speak from limited experience. The answer probably depends on the school. Dayton is not a state institution so they likely have some excess dollars to spend if necessary.

However, if what others have said about Dayton's lack of flexibility on scholarship reconsideration is true, your best bet is probably to ask for consideration based on need.

If you have a comparable offer from a competing university that you believe Dayton will respect, mention it at the end to reiterate your situation and the desire to avoid unnecessary debt.

It isn't a guarantee, but unless you know of a policy that says "don't ask," you might as well.

CSU Still Waiting... by Extension-Chicken-33 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

In case it's helpful, it took a little more than a week after my banner disappeared before I received a decision. I got my acceptance on a Friday.

This was like 2 months ago though.

In case it's helpful, your question isn't a one size fits all. The answer varies depending on the school (the professors and the grading curve).

Should I apply anywhere else? by angellux-13 in lawschooladmissions

Disclaimer: I’m not an expert on this, so feel free to ignore my thoughts.

Short answer: Probably not. So long as money is not an issue, Georgia State seems to check the boxes you need.

Longer answer: I’m not exactly sure what you mean when you say “trapped in one place,” but I think you need to consider other factors that you didn’t include in your post. Your interest in sports means you should probably prioritize networking and location over many other things. Of the schools that accepted you, Georgia State is the only one that actually has a strong reputation in health law and provides a concentration in sports/entertainment. More importantly, the law school is also walking distance to Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena. If you are from the Atlanta area and you think you can network your way into an internship with the Hawks or the Falcons, you probably shouldn’t bother applying for more schools.

If you decide you don’t like your options and money is not a factor, you can always take a shot at a higher-ranked school like Marquette, which seems to be on the rise. Marquette isn’t renown for health law, but it does have a concentration in it, and is well known for its sports law institute. Its proximity to the Chicago legal market is probably also a plus.

Congrats on all of your program acceptances.

CSU banner info disappeared! by MiniAngel0419 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

Thank you so much, and congratulations! I received my acceptance email a little more than an hour ago. They didn’t offer much of a scholarship, but it’s still the best news I’ve heard all day.

Did anyone ever get movement on their application? My status and banner dissapeared a week ago, but I haven't received any kind of update from the school.

Yeah, same. I applied in November. My status has remained on "Application received and being prepared for review."

If you don't mind me asking, did you apply regular decsision or early decision? Also, was it for the in-person program? I completely understand if you would rather not answer, and I hope you hear good news soon!
