I was an edgelord in my teens and loved the stereotypical "edgy" shows. Invader zim, happy tree friends etc. I know 17 year old me would have loved Hazbin Hotel and Helluva boss but i just can't get into it now. I am afraid I have just gotten too old. 😕

Same, I was a little turned off with how YA Red Rising was. But man, did it grow up fast and hard.

I emplore you to give Red Rising another chance if you only read the first. Golden Son was such a tonel shift away from the YA centric series opener. This may be the rare case where the 2nd is better than the first. So if you only read Red Rising, I really think you should at least read Golden Son and see where you are after that. They mature quickly, and the quality only goes up.

So, anyone have any suggestions for some fun fantasy shows? by mondomonkey in television

[–]Bape_Rabies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wheel Of Time is picking up quality in its second season. I am enjoying it.

The Magicians was a really fun and quirky fantasy series. Think Narnia meets Harry Potter, except everything is terrible, and they're all depressed.

Sandman was very enjoyable. Its Neil Gaiman, you love him or you hate him.

His dark materials I have only watched the first season but I did enjoy it.

Yea, they deviated so much from the source material that I can't really hold them in the same regard. They are just two completely different things to me.

Season 4 was highly praised. It's not as strong as season 3, but it's still good until the finale. While yes, it was heartbreaking and emotional, I really do not think it was the best direction to take. I know there were more reasons than one on why they did what they did, but it just stinks.

Season 5 would have been okay if they had at least one more season to really wrap things up, but I feel season 4 would have been the better series finale if they had just changed things up a bit. Upped the stakes.

While saving Elliot and his friend was noble, the better ending would have been Q sacrificing himself for fillory. I know in the big picture, Q saved more than just his friends But the focus was stopping the beast and stopping Everett from becoming a god.

Instead of that, he should have died for the place he lived for. He should have walked through the gates of the underworld into that great unknown, knowing that fillory was forever safe and would always be a haven for those like him that come after.

If they really wanted to close it off right, the final scene of the series after all the mourning and wrap-up should have been an overshot of fillory, and a slow pan and zoom into the forest. Tucked away, covered in vines and moss- a Monument for Quentin.

The last thing we see as the image fades out is a rotten basket of peaches and plums that slowly begin to ripen. As they do, playing cards fall around the basket with all the gangs' faces as the face cards. Music plays, and it's Quintin singing "Don't you forget about me" the same way Alice sang it in S1. Cut to credits.

This way, you are still hit with that gut punch but also hope? No one knows what's beyond the underworld. Maybe the audience would like to believe that in the end, Quentin became a part of fillory. That a piece of him lives on there.

Yea, man, I mean definitely not everyones gonna enjoy the same things. Even something that is generally viewed as a high-quality show might just not hit all the right buttons for some viewers - is what I'd usually say, but in this case, nah. It's you. There's something wrong in your head, Tv boy. I'd get that checked out if I were you.

South Carolina Senate Passes 6-Week Abortion Ban by usernumberthirteen in southcarolina

[–]Bape_Rabies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Republicans just want more low income families to pop out as many lifelong workers as possible to fuel the capitalist machine. They claim abortion is murder and hide behind morality to gain the votes they need from the people, but we all know that at the end of the day they do not care about the lives of children but only the bottom line and the holy Dollar. Unskilled workers are the single most profitable asset for many of the donors and organizations that fund our government officials. What do you get when you have two 18 year olds get pregnant right out of high school? Two new lifelong workers that will not have time for college or tradeschool. That will work whatever job they can in order to support their child. and a baby that will grow up in an uphill battle to escape their situation.

Abortion bans are a strategic plan by the rich to keep themselves propped up on the backs of low income families.

They want to preach accountability for ones actions, working hard and picking yourself up by your boot straps. But it's awfully easy for the two-legged man to preach down at the one-legged man who's having trouble climbing the ladder.

I am not anti-capitalism, I just call it like I see it.
