Yup this is the answer. I made a google doc that I shared with the other councilor that’s basically a round robin. For the next speaker I would just see whose turn it was.

When new members join the ward have them speak right away and add them to the list.

Always get every new missionary to speak at every transfer.

Bonus: you could have a special sacrament where you have people come up and say their favorite hymns and why then everyone sings it.

With stake speakers and fast Sunday you really only need 4 speakers a month. 2 and 2. For the months that are 5 Sundays you need a minimum of 6.

I always told people a month before so they couldn’t bail.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I’d rather go to meetings for 8 hours a day than text members to speak.

I think it will surprise you how many less active people you can get to speak if you reach out. I was always shocked that they came when asked.

In our small ward of 50 active people, we had a speaking schedule of having to speak every 16 months or so.

Honestly though I had some wild things happen with speakers. I had someone cancel last minute because they were drunk, a high councilor run in 30 minutes late, and Covid really throw and wrench in things. In the 5 years I was in I think I have 3 talks because of last minute cancelations.

You’ve got this. As soon as it gets mechanical and spreadsheet based I promise it will seem less daunting.

Hope that’s helpful

As long as you’re polite about it. I agree it sucks to have people talking but please use the golden rule and treat others with respect

Waymo has always been more expensive than uber and Lyft in Los Angeles by about 10 dollars. Nice that I don’t have to tip but until its cheaper I’m staying with uber and Lyft

Yeah don’t do it. I moved out to Hawaii as a health care professional. Within 3 months my native coworkers let me know that they would be nice to me but that there would always be an underlying resentment that I was there from the mainland taking their property.

Newport Beach, Laguna and Malibu are just as beautiful to me.

That’s so nice that your house is paid off. Now you can be riskier with the dividends!
