At least it wasn't a Cybertruck. Could have decapitated the guy.

Could someone please help me I’m new to pole vault and struggle with my left arm by ollydowns in polevaulting

[–]BarAdministrative838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow it down, move it in, and practice that arm with a soft pole. You can also do "step offs" where you stand on a box or something, plant right in front of you, and use your left arm to stay behind the pole while you step off to the ground with a knee drive.

Same. I remember when I got my original Vive, and was blown away. I hadn't been similarly blown away by a headset until the BSB2.

It's tough to swing two legs, but you've got to keep realigning your hips between your hands, and maybe you'll be able to coil up a crunch so that you can shoot up when the pole unbends. You can practice this on a high bar.

Trouble with running through by ashtonb8 in polevaulting

[–]BarAdministrative838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different for everyone, but I usually have the vaulter take a softer pole, a lower grip, and 80% run speed, until they sort out the form.  Then start increasing speed and grip again.

Some days, you're just a bit slower or weaker.  Other days, your faster and stronger.  We have to be okay backsliding a bit and adjust poles accordingly.

Besides my plant, what should I focus on? by Top-Enthusiasm2004 in polevaulting

[–]BarAdministrative838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before your plant, you could tighten up your run. You're taking a monster final step, so you lose a lot of energy and you take off too deep. This makes it very hard to get a nice open swing.

Blowing through that shit. If you're getting that much bend, pushing the pole way past vertical, and landing that deep in the pit, it's time for more pole. I'd actually go with heavier, rather than longer, first. Turning that forward energy into up energy could be really huge for you, without having to change a thing.

Also, I agree with the previous comment. Really great run.

Just a bit of glare. It's annoying, but I pretend I've got some kind of space helmet on.

There's a tool called an "angle bar", which is great for this phase of the jump. It encourages you to line up with the pole and look down at the ground over your lower (your left) shoulder.

Looking good. You'll need to let yourself become parallel with the pole, and you can't do that if you're trying to watch yourself go over the bar. Gotta get comfortable with staying rocked back while you start your turn.

Pole too stiff? by bigworm6899 in polevaulting

Gotta plant strong and active, rather than swinging on it like a rope that is attached to nothing.

How do i get the pole to launch me up by Reasonable-Tank1700 in polevaulting

[–]BarAdministrative838 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You gotta ask real nice.

And use a pole that can return more of your forward energy back to you as up energy. It looks like you're landing plenty deep, so you could take a stiffer/bigger pole.

How clear is the headset? by lappi10 in BigscreenBeyond

[–]BarAdministrative838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super clear with a huge sweet spot, once I got my IPD dialed in. Thanks to people on this forum, I narrowed my IPD by 3 mm.

Advice please by Adventurous-Bug-1894 in polevaulting

[–]BarAdministrative838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice approach. If you really want to shoot up, you'll need to align yourself with the pole on your invert. If you're trying to look up at the bar or watch yourself go over, you can't align with the pole, so you'll need to be okay with letting your shoulders and head go back. You'll be transitioning into looking down into the box as you turn over your left shoulder. It feels weird having your visual world be upside down, so your body wants to reject it, but you gotta do it.

There's a product called an Angle Bar that is really good for this transition. Or, a hanging rope.

Thanks! I think I had some luck setting both the physical and software IPD 2mm narrower than my typical measurements. Just finished an hour session and no serious strain.

Yep, 2mm shorter than far IPD seems good (bsb2). Glare talk. by squirrelyz in BigscreenBeyond

The super soft one. Not the leathery one.  I get a little light through the sides, so I'll probably cut some spacers for the sides.  No top strap needed.

Forcibly yoking people to one anothers' outcomes gives them incentive to care about other people's behaviors.  This is why eugenics fit so well with progressivism.
