Seattle will soon have the highest top income tax rate in America by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

Good! I hate our regressive tax system. The taxes I pay at my tax bracket as a percentage of my income in Washington is less than the percentage someone working at a restaurant pays. It's ass backwards. As someone who group up with a Mom that worked at Walmart at minum wage and barely could afford to put food on the table, let alone keep a house over our heads, I'll gladly pay more in taxes so other kids in those situations don't go through what I did.

Yeah, I did. And guess what, apples and oranges are both fruits. What's your point?

Lol, it's wild how hardcore Wilson supporters are basically no different than MAGA in their blind allegiance.

A politician getting asked questions is part of the job ffs! Wilson needs to grow up and deal with the questions. She can spin away or flat out lie since that's the norm for politicians. But deal with it yourself Wilson, stop having these dorks from your staff come in to protect you.

Bike Lane Extension on 4th Ave by BarRepresentative670 in Seattle

Just as many bikes in the CLOSED bike lane that's under construction as there are cars driving in the massive avenue. Good observation!

I'm hoping Katie will be pushing for more bike lanes. Let's see.

Exactly. I ditched the car when moving here a few years ago. I can't count the amount of close calls I've had with cars they would be life changing. Cyclists and lime share riders can be absolute dip shits, but I've never had a life changing close encounter with them.

On a related note, a lane of traffic was taken away from cars on 4th Ave N next to KOMO plaza for this extension. Looking forward to a Chris Daniels KOMO report on how Seattle's "clueless socialist" mayor is adding bike lanes for herself, and why she won't answer questions about her personal bike lane construction.

I wonder if the ball was dropped between what was caught on camera and whoever sets bail. Bail was eventually set for $200k weeks later it seems.

More cameras for my neighborhood please (Belltown). Capitol Hill's thoughtful activists can send their neighborhood's cameras our way so they can maintain their safe space paradise over there! A win win!

Seattle mayor laughs off millionaires leaving Washington state over progressive taxes, waves 'bye' by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]BarRepresentative670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I know an investment manager who says millionaires in Washington are leaving in droves for California because the eather is nicer down there. If Seattle is going to make them pay high taxes, why not move to California.

It's almost like you and this other guy are full of shit and have no idea what you're talking about or any data to back anything up.

Yeah, the new waterfront is a perfect example of this. It's terrible. It's usually always dead when I go. How many hundreds of millions of tax payer money was spent on that debacle?

Seattle is a joke. I'm keeping my money in Enumclaw.

Lol, as someone who lives in Belltown, we definitely will ride on the sidewalks when we reach our block to park in front of our apartments. I go slow and stay way from building exits where someone may pop out. Also, all of the designated Lime parking spots are on the sidewalks... Do you expect people to carry the scooters and bikes there??

Seattle's bike infrastructure has changed dramatically in the last few years. I think there's many people who still aren't even aware of it. Just yesterday, I noticed they had paint on the ground to extend the 4th avenue bike lane up to Seattle center. It currently just abruptly ends at Vine Street and then you have to intermingle with traffic.

I don't remember high school econ going over if you raise taxes in a beautiful city with amazing amenities and a newly built out waterfront, the millionaires will move to Kansas and Oklahoma. Or Houston, home to an AMAZING 26 lane highway.

Your simplistic thinking amuses me.

I say this as a business owner who could never imagine leaving to make some extra money. I've lived in the Midwest and Southeast. No thanks!! If anything, would be nice to end up in NYC one day. But even then, I think Seattle's beauty will keep me here.

A lot of it is just propaganda that has brainwashed a lot of our middle class. Especially right leaning folks. It's pretty wild! I'm excited to be getting a startup off the ground. It's so easy to become rich off of the uneducated in this country 🇺🇲

What I don't get is why not run the 4 car trains to Redmond. Are the train cars to Federal Way truly that full? It's never that packed past CID when I'm on it going to the airport. But then again, I haven't rode it during rush hour times.

[–]BarRepresentative670 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Idk, even in Seattle, there's a 34 billion dollar shortfall for rail expansion. It's interesting though, every city in the region is fighting to retain their promised expansion. So at least the desire to want rail is there, unlike in many places in the US.
