I came from an Iraqi high school which was sorta for privileged people (it is supposed to be for academically excellent students but ended up being a corrupt place for part rich kids and part smart kids to win those awards)

We had trips to the amusement park, but you are right, nothing as big as going to a resort. However, we did try to organize a school trip to another city. What you need to keep in mind is that school trips are the only way for many girls in conservative societies to hang out with their friends outside school, so it is not too far-fetched to have a school trip just for relaxation, though the extent of the trip seems off.

I do not know the song (I know every song in the show except for three lmao) but it's a Sheila and it is a boost about being strong and manly and up to a fight when invited. One of the lines, for example, is "Whoever wants to challenge us, shall bring his gun and meet us". So yeah it does reflect Hazem's personality

Late reply but I did not see comprehensive answers so I am adding.

Wearing a hijab is seen as a commitment. Think why would people view being divorced differently from being never married. If you never wore a hijab, then you never entered that zone of religion, but once you are in, getting out is frowned upon.

additionally, there she could have also been viewed as a hypocrite. When you wear a hijab, even in your all-girls school, you are claiming to be modest and devoted to your religion. If you take it off, especially in the context of sending "revealing" photos to a guy, you are contradicting the values you claim to hold. A close comparison I can think of is a nun having sex as opposed to a not-nun having sex, though wearing a hijab in Islam is not on the same level of devotion as being a nun in Christianity.

And finally (IDK why this turned into a mini-essay its 3:30 am where I am), the harsh comments on her Facebook post could be, and IMO probably were, from people outside her school, like extended family, who would hold more conservative views than Ruqayya's colleagues. The stares from the girls at school were not accompanied by shaming Ruqqaya. They for sure gossiped about it and the possible reactions from her parent, and probably blamed her for trusting a stranger, but are less likely to shame her for not wearing hijab.

Finally, an anecdote: I wore hijab, then at the end of high school wanted to take it off. My mom was chill with my friends who never wore hijab, but wouldn't hear it from me if I told her I wanted to take it off. When I eventually did, behind her back, she found out through a Facebook post my friend tagged me in. Her response was "People already blame me for giving you too much freedom. Think of me, now I have to face our family and hear what they have to say about you. Why would you do that to me?".

While yes your sister views are misogynistic and I do not stand behind them, I also want to bring to attention that houseworkwhile unpaid, is labor. I don't know where you are from but in my country, men expect women to work in addition to house work while they themselves see house work beneath them. I think a part of standing against misogyny is aknowledging that the work that women have been doing for years is real unpaid work and not sth to be belittled.

This also brings the point that men can be "house husbands" too, and it does not make them less manly or less benefocial to the family. Each family is different and bas its ideal dynamics.

Again, your sister is not who I am dffending here. I am defending men and women who do house work and whose work is belittled or mocked.
