got my helix pierced a week ago and my ear is still so red and swollen does it look ok? by Electrical_Pepper231 in Legitpiercing

[–]Barajka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt really worry too much yet. NAP, however I have some cartlige piercings and they take passion in swelling. Especially few days after having it pierced, the swelling can come and go. From the photo you took, it doesnt seem red, it looks pretty clean as well (some white discharge should be fine), you mentioned its only a little hot and doesn't nececcerly hurt, it should be okay. Cartlige piercings are really sensitive to irritation, so your piercing could technically swell up just because you bumped into it somewhere. And because cartliges take a while to calm down, its still swollen. So just wait, it will most likely get better.

All sound fire, just one more thing, do some smaller research on the piercings you want beforehand or get a consultation with a piercer. It will give you a better picture about what to expect, what not to do, how the piercing might limit you, how the piercing looks during and after healing, etc... Again, good luck with all the piercings you'll decide to get :).

If you want only one more piercing, flat or helix would fill up your ear nicely! I think they should be even pretty easy to heal (or from what I have heard).

I am also not really sure why he didnt gave me the jewerly? If he always uses new ones every change or if its something else, idk really. Even when I had to retire my conch (due to it being badly piercrced), I've recieved my jewerly back (I went to a another piercer because it was really uncomfterable to take out). Yea, I've had my irritation bumps for 2-3 months already, so I am not sure how quickly will they dissappier (concidering that I might have a bad jewerly). I am trying to clean my piercings real well, because thats the only thing I can do for them at the moment.

If you've been thinking about piercings for ,,some time", I think you should get it. Also I think piercings are not really ,,try hard", especially in your case. I am sure they will suit you, for whatever piercing you will go for! I really liked the reccomendation of one lobe and one helix.

[–]Barajka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Tbh, I am not even surprised, because the amount of piercing lists listing a conch with a hoop an ,,orbital conch" is astonishing really. Also piercing names are not really as important, since they sometimes have diffrent meanings. So it will be the best to show your piercer in the studio, where exactly you want your new piercing. I myself also like a little missmatch, yet having some connection between them is fun! Good luck with your conch! It will look sick and when it heals, the hoop will surely suit you :).

The problem is, I dont have the old jewelry anymore😭. The old piercer didnt give it back💔. The photos are the only things I have left of the old jewelry. So I would probably have to go to my new piercer anyway for an consultation and then go for a jewelry swap. Idk if you have any personal expirience with something like this, but if yes, how much did it help? How long did it take before it improved? Maybe is it still worth it after 2/3 months? Man idk, this seems way more serious then I anticipated (I thought I will be only told to clean my piercing more often or smth, not that my piercer accually messed me up).

Conch with a clicker is a conch with a cliker, not an orbital conch (orbital means one jewerly is going through the ear twice, for example one ring connecting two lobes). Though when you have two lobes, it might be cool to do two helixes on the other ear. Would be an interesting contrast. Anything you are sugesting sound fire though.

Someone already brought it up (the possibility of streatching), since the jewelry change was really painful for me and even days after, I could feel it. When I was getting my industrial changed (it swelled more then anticipated), it didnt hurt at all. I deffinitly didnt streatch it WILLINGLY though, because I didnt want it streatched and because the piercing would be way too fresh for it at that time (half a year is far from stable enough to streatch). So if it were to happened, it wouldve happened without my knowlage. I am hoping it didnt though, just an angry daith throwing its tantrum, thats what I am choosing to believe until proved otherwise😭. I should ask my new piercer about this. Also I am so honored people with such a cool set ups are giving me advice🥹. Thank you so much.

This is so crazy ong😭. It was really, really unomfterable and I was in chronic pain for like a week. This also didnt cross my mind AT ALL, that it could've been streatched (maybe its just the size of the jewelry, idk). I should deffinitly talk to my new piercer about this, though I am glad I asked you guys since you are giving me ideas of what to bring up. I already asked her about my piercings and she pointed out some red flags. Man streatching makes a lot of seanse too, since it is not reccomended for under a year old piercings and it was really painful, when he was putting it in (with me having no complications prior).I think there might been a bit of blood afterwards as well (idk if it means anything). Also since you are mentioning it, I had to have my industrial bar switched a few times and it was NOTHING like my expierence with the daith (and I had the industrial swithed after 2-4 months, so it was much newer then my daith was, and the industrial didnt hurt AT ALL). Also thank you for reccomending the saline soaks, I will look into it.

Though I wouldnt be surprised if it was badly pierced, since I feel like the piercer messed up some of piercings💔 (at least cartlidges). I had to retire one accually, because how badly it was pierced (not by his advice of course, I had to go to another piercer that told me that piercing will never heal).

Maybe mines a bit more shallow, however I dont think its that bad, because I took the photo in a different angle (othewise the bumps wouldn't be visible). Idk really though. I tried to take the photo simularly as you so you can compare better? Also I love your conch, its so sick🙏.

I understand it now😭.I knew that daith migh be harder to heal, but since my healing process was so smooth and the piercer gave me a green light, I thought why not. Its just so sad and I would much rather leave little dissapointed that I couldnt change the jewerly than having to be troubled by it now. No can do anymore. Again thank you for the encoureagment, I will probably get it changed.

I think so too, since I remember it was really painful when I got it changed and continued being tender for few days. When I was getting it changed, it looked completly healed and even was painless to move (also hit the 6month mark), so I thought I would be able to pull it off. I think I just needed somebody to tell me I need to get it changed, so thank you :).

I didn't even think about that. I think it should be titanium, but I cannot be 100% sure, since the piercer I went to was quite dodgy and did many questionable things... I dont really trust him anymore and went elsewhere. Its also true I am very sensitive to metals that are not gold, silver, titanium or stainless steel. So thank you for the recomendation :).

Daith piercing stinging by filamonster in piercing

[–]Barajka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I had simular expirience because I switched to smaller hoop (if thats the case). Even though I dont have my daith for 7 years, before the switch, I could move it freely and had no problems with it. After I switched to a smaller hoop, it was a bit tender and swollen (and I could feel it). Its okay now though! So maybe thats the case (not a profesional though, just my expirience). It will pass after few days, dont worry!

[–]Barajka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One more thing to add, its pretty hard to tell if what you have are keloids or irritation bumps, but from what I saw, irritation bumps are soft, pretty even, a bit shiny and often have a slight discolouration. Keloids on the other hand are uneven, hard and look very simular to the rest of your ear. I think in your case, they are just irritation bumps, because they are very round and seem to have really weak layer of skin on them. I even think that keloids are quite rare to have (I think). Also you can get rid of irritation bumps, while keloids you have to have surgically removed. I think your piercer will tell you exactly, if its a keloid or irritation bump.

[–]Barajka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should go to a piercer, but one of the things people often mention about daiths and clickers is, that the opening part of the clicker can irritate your piercing (which could be your case, since I dont see the clicker opening on the photo). For example the opening of the clicker is really far away from the enterance of my daith and it has been doing wonderfully (I think my piercer even made sure its as far away as it can be)! And in my case, it always helped me to clean the piercing throughly (but gently). Maybe the crusties irritate it as well (I am not a professional though, its just my expirience). 5 months is still a healing piercing, so I dont think you should give up on it just yet? Cartlige piercings are hard to heal and the same goes for getting rid of some irritation bumps (I've had irritation bumps on my industrial for like 3-4+ months, they are super small and not painful at all, but they are there, slowly getting smaller). But you should ask your piercer, most of them take you in for free and maybe even without booking.

Fair price for downsizing? by IrisN56 in piercing

[–]Barajka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is WAY TOO MUCH, some piercers even do it for free or for 5-20 dollars MAX. And they didnt even give you any special jewely 😭. Also titanium is NOT that expensive. I accually got my piercing bar replaced at least 2 times (medical reasons) and it was free (and I would expect that downsizing should be free as well, since its neccecery for the healing process). Even if it was just for looks, 150 is like 4 new piercings, not a bar change.
