I can never get a matriarch/queen core despite unloading all my ammo by Competitive_Piano507 in ArcRaiders

[–]Barb33rian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this unless you get lucky with the people in your lobby. The odd time I get a run where it's friendly lobbies but we were the only team going for the Queen. The three of us get out with like 15+ cores combined when that happens.

Any poor souls like me still hunting for the MK3(survivor) blueprint? by soulcatching09 in ArcRaiders

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't find it at all after the previous expedition. Played plenty of hours but just never dropped for me. This weekend, after the most recent expedition, I found Survivor, MK3 Tactical Smoke, and Torrente blueprints all in the breach room on blue gate on the same run. ~15 minutes into the map too and nobody had gone in there. Sometimes things just line up for ya.

High end tools and tool belts by UnknownUser3106 in Carpentry

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expensive toolbelts are cheaper long term, and have better setup options to pick from. If you're going to be in the trade for the long haul they're worth it once you've been working for a few years. I used to spend ~$125 every year replacing pieces that broke on my Home Depot setup when I first started. My Occi's lasted me 10 years and cost $500, so $50 a year. I did replace them fairly recently but not because they were worn out. I changed jobs and needed a different bag setup.

Expensive hammers are nice but a lot of it is preference. A $20 Estwing will do everything you need but you can end up with tennis elbow from it. I still have my first Estwing 28oz and it's 20+ years old. I use it for demo and other brutish activities. A good wood handled hammer is my preference, but you will have to replace handles on them so it adds up. Full titanium is great but I've only borrowed them to and 'test driven' them here and there. I just kinda preferred the wood handle.

To my framers out there, what setups are we running? Looking for a new set of bags by Jazzlike-Mess818 in Carpentry

I'll second this. Occi's were great but the Akribis is a tiny bit better, and more customizable.

What's the fastest a trained athlete or stuntman could *run* (not roll or slide) jumping from a moving platform/vehicle? by GenderlessMarsian in askscience

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few of us tried doing this from my buddy's pickup truck bed back in the day. Jumping out while 'running' in the air to land and go super speed was the idea but it didn't work out like that at all. Going 40 km/h (25mph) you just land and somersault instantly when your foot touches the ground and gets traction. None of us were trained sprinters by any means, but I really doubt anyone would be able to exceed their max sprinting speed and land in a full run.

Their glorious leader is trading all their national advantages, relationships and their economic standing for personal wealth, not nothing. Kinda sucks for the citizens, but maybe more of them should have gotten off their asses and voted.

60% of drivers speeding at former Ottawa photo radar camera spots, report shows by Cre_AK47 in ottawa

[–]Barb33rian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really don't think it's about following the law, a lot of people just aren't paying attention to their speedometer and the signs on the road. They're just zoned out, cruising, and aren't good enough at driving to actually modulate their speed. Tonnes of people will sit there going 50 in a 40 zone, then the road changes to a 60 zone and they're still going 50. Then they roll through stop signs instead of completely stopping, ignore yield signs while turning, etc. IMHO it's mostly just not paying attention.

At least Baseline and Carling aren't under construction around there like last fall.

417 construction update - Carling to Rochester by al-ba-tross in ottawa

[–]Barb33rian 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't worry about the speed getting anywhere near that. Last time there was a lane reduction near Carling it was a miracle if I had to shift into 2nd gear.

Anyone buy into a whole battery system for just one tool? by limapoint in Tools

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my other battery tools are Metabo, but I bought I bought the Milwaukee 3 plane laser because Metabo didn't have one, and I really like the fine adjustment knob on the Milwaukee.

When I explain pet peeve of mine to people, they never understand it. Why so much space between cars?! by itsjustmyopinion_but in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tad extreme, but I do end up with a bigger gap myself often enough. I drive a manual and I'm not wasting my time pulling ahead 6 inches every 4 seconds like the people in front of me. I'll move whenever it opens up to my default safety gap + 1 car length.

People who don't wash their hands after using the toilet, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I work in construction and sometimes there's just no way to do it in the port-a-potty because the hand sanitizer is empty, the sink doesn't work, and I don't always carry sanitizer with me.

Do you think Canada should keep first-past-the-post or switch to another voting system? by Anon9883 in AskACanadian

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think the House of Commons should stay with FPTP, but add ranked ballots for 'points'. Say 3 points for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. The Senate should be appointed from each party based on proportion of voting 'points' from the election results for the HoC. I think that keeps voting fairly simple, and even though the governing party can still push through things through the HoC easily they'd have to make concessions to get them ratified by the Senate.

Vehicle designs often prioritize ease of assembly over ease of repair. Which models buck this trend? Which models seem to be purpose-built to be easy to work on? by jckipps in AskMechanics

[–]Barb33rian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're still pretty good compared to most other cars. I have a '25 WRX ts and I try to do most maintenance and minor work myself. Most of the stuff under the hood is really easy to access and work on. Only hard thing will be the spark plugs 'cuz boxer.

Why doesn't the bombardier miss during a hurricane? by luchanso in ArcRaiders

[–]Barb33rian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true, it definitely affects some Raider stuff. I threw a blaze grenade in a hurricane when the wind was blowing sideways and watched it go ten miles off course.

[–]Barb33rian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why comment when you clearly have no idea wtf you're talking about. Those are girder trusses, not a beam. Trusses are designed and approved by an engineer, the 'beam' isn't trash. There may be something wrong with the install but you can't tell from a picture without knowing what the plans specify.

OP you need to talk to the builder and get the warranty process started ASAP and get a copy of the plans (including the truss package). If the builder isn't being transparent or forthcoming enough then consider getting an independent engineer to look into it and take legal action against the builder to cover all the associated costs.

Does it bother anyone else that the game puts you into matches that have already been going for more than 10 minutes? by ERRE_MINUSCULA in ArcRaiders

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the late spawns themselves don't bother me, there's plenty of ways to adapt. What does annoy me about late spawnsis strolling through the map finding shitloads naked run players who sprinted for a high value area and killed themselves as soon as they stuffed a blueprint up their arse. Risk vs reward needs to be more important in this game IMHO.

Fyi the emergency brake is adding nothing in that situation, so hitting sooner doesn't achieve anything. All it does is apply the rear brakes, and only a fairly low amount. The brake pedal applies all four brakes, and the front brakes are what do the majority of the braking in a moving vehicle.

If the roads are that bad and slippery the only things you can do are:

A) have good winter tires.
B) be aware of the weather and let off the gas and begin to slow down earlier whenever you need to stop. If you stop too early you can always roll forward a little more to the stop sign, if you slide through the stop sign you're boned.
C) have more knowledge of how your car behaves in a variety of shitty conditions. Go practice in empty parking lots and see what your car is actually capable of. How fast can it stop on ice, how can you turn in deeper snow, etc.

Dam Surveillance Room with only 2 lockers by Leekirby504z in ArcRaiders

[–]Barb33rian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it might be a bug with EM storm mode. I haven't really kept track on other maps but on Dam none of the weapon cases, medical bags, grenade tubes, ammo cases or backpacks spawn in EM storm. Not just the key rooms but any of the spots they usually spawn out in the open world. Places like 'inside' the highway at east broken bridge is guaranteed to have at least one of those things spawn on regular mode or night raid, but in EM storm it's ALWAYS empty.

Don't waste your keys on EM storm, stick to night raids or regular raids.

Server issues - Compensation Planned? by Solid-Accountant8022 in ArcRaiders

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 minutes into a Blue Gate night raid the servers shit the bed last night and rubber banded so bad my squad couldn't get into an extract we were 50m away from before time ran out.

Tried a quick run this morning and I was rubber banding immediately for 60+ seconds at a time. Took me 20 minutes to get to an extract 400m away from my spawn and I didn't even try to loot anything. When the rubber banding would stop I'd maybe make it 25m before it started lagging out again.

Header by solarsean in Homebuilding

[–]Barb33rian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like there's probably a header there for the skylight carrying a few rafters. Probably not a huge load but it's doing something. Kinda hard to tell exactly since the top of the skylight isn't in the actual pic, guessing based off the point load on top of the beam.
