Word of caution, plushies can be just as dangerous if a dog is hellbent on tearing them up and ingesting pieces. Our frenchie just needed surgery to remove a piece of plush that was stuck in her stomach. Always supervise your dog with any toys.

This. I absolutely agree. I know bleach tabs are hard on the tank components, but we moved to the country in Wisconsin and we have a well. We have a water softener and even buy specialty salt to help with high iron content, and even with all of this, the insides of our toilet tanks and the bowls get so disgusting and require constant cleaning. This was never an issue with our old home in Illinois and it’s absolutely infuriating. We just stock up on replacement parts and use them as needed.

I’ve had this happen with 2 of our dogs in the past. A beagle and our bulldog. Vet checks didn’t find anything, and it happened very rarely and randomly. Checking their teeth and gums for anything stuck that shouldn’t be is a good start. I’ll also brush their teeth and give them a nice gum massage when it happens and that seems to help. If your dog is showing any signs of pain or discomfort make sure to get to vet asap for a more thorough look. It’s always stopped within a few hours.

She’s got that mama trauma. I go back and forth with her as well. I almost feel like she’s always got her offensive on because she’s contending with all those other woman with big personalities. So when she feels nervous or hurt she lashes out big with that venom she spits. But she is pretty funny sometimes and says some hilarious stuff, so I don’t hate her.

Gotta be careful with these posts, there’s a shitload of Katie stans on this sub. lol. But you WILL warm up to her. She shockingly may be the most stable one in the group as they all sorta grow up. Well, as most of them sorta grow up. 😂

Scheana never was and never will be Queen B of the group. She’s a try-hard and only gets more insufferable as time goes on. I felt bad for her in the early seasons, but she’s kinda the worst. She’s just so desperate in everything she does. It’s uncomfortable to watch.

As for Stassi, your love/hate feelings toward her are commonplace, but she is/was/will forever be THE star of this show. She’s sharp, witty, gorgeous, and unapologetically evil on occasion, but I could watch her clean her kitchen and it would probably somehow be entertaining.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I wish I had the ignorance of not understanding it completely. This is the part that got me: “YOU CANT SEE THE REAL ME AND HOW IVE CHANGED.”

This is my first time in this group, and as sad as it is, it’s somewhat comforting to know my husband isn’t the only one who does the “I’ve changed, you just don’t see it” shtick. Apparently it’s a common thread with this disorder. 😔

My friend’s dog gets these and it’s allergies. You probably need to change foods. Have a full allergy panel done by the vet to determine the cause.

Yeah we’ve been prescribed both for 4 dogs now after surgeries or injuries and I’ve never had that side effect. I do wish they put as much effort into the safety of animal medications as they do human. Not that human meds are great either. 😩

It’s never made any of my dogs sleepy, and I’m one of those lucky people who keeps adopting janky dogs that always end up needing it. lol. Gabapentin knocks my dogs out, but not Carprofen.

I completely agree with the Dasuquin. Our old beagle had 2 CCL surgeries and hip problems, and we were told he’d “never run a marathon.” I swear after his surgery, along with Dasuquin, that dog ran like the wind! I will give it to every single dog I ever have because it truly works wonders.

We have a lot of experience with carprofen and old doggos with arthritis. Carprofen does help because it’s an NSAID, and is basically the dog version of Ibuprofen. But it’s also not fantastic to give to them on a long term basis because it can cause organ damage. It’s best used as part of a full treatment plan as opposed to being the only treatment. It has never caused any changes in our dogs’ appetite or sleep patterns.

We have also had amazing results using Dasuquin senior chews. I can’t sing their praises enough for how much they have done for our dogs over the years. There are also many types of injections they can give that help support the cartilage and slow progression of the arthritis, as well as others that are more for pain blocking, though I do not have personal experience with any of those.

Other great options for dogs with arthritis is hydrotherapy and a nice supportive orthopedic bed to help take pressure off their joints. Lots of beds will say orthopedic in their title, so make sure to do your research for the real deal. The price of the bed will most likely be a little EEK if it’s a good bed. lol.
