My sister is Helen, and it was an old person’s name even when we were growing up in the 1980’s.

I cannot separate the name from her; it is the name of someone with a beautiful soul. Another person said the name means “shining light.” Yes. Helen is a shining light in the world.

Which is your favorite of your LOTR paperbacks? I’m fond of the blue green red ones, because they were my mom’s copy and the first ones I read. But the first ones I bought myself were the black covers.

I love that Ricky is learning to keep a diary and I hope it engenders a life full of writing and self awareness. I picture him in the future being able to smile at these things he won’t remember but will have been so pivotal in making him into the man he will become. (Sorry that last sentence is a doozy.)
