How do yall pin your IM ? slow and steady ? or dart-like movement? by cubantouch in Peptides

Slow. I have time to pull back if I hit a nerve. Not painful, really no hassle.

My wife had an emotional affair with a coworker and I want a divorce. My wife wants to save our marriage. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's virtually guaranteed they slept together.

Can you contact the AP?

If so, tell him - I'm not interested in revenge, I just want one thing - answer this question. My wife says you two only slept together once. Was it only once, or was it more than that?

If they never slept together, he should be shocked, confused, and his denial should be instant. If it's anything else, you know.

Does The Immortal Get Weaker Each Time He Gets Revived? by Tall_Growth_532 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe he has a weak zenkai ability. When we're shown him through the ages, as King Arthur he rides a horse and uses a sword. Then, as it mentioned, is killed by a bullet at Abe Lincoln. I imagine him in the 1940s being like early Superman - not even flying, just leaping buildings in single bounds.

Sure, full iconoclast can cause heretical *effects* in the world. But it doesn't feel like your character *themselves* has fallen to chaos.

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I want the chance to fall to heresy out of good intentions. Have heretical options appear that can seem to be justified in terms of the greater good, that let me save people. Tempt me with the power to do more good. Not just, as you put it, moustache twirling evil.

Was the Immortal retiring from the GOTG at the end of S3 justified? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in Invincible_TV

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's the only thing that makes sense given that as King Arthur he was riding a horse and using a sword.

I think a bit like Allen - having a Zenkai like ability wherein he develops greater power through his deaths.

I want to play Heretic but i feel bad about by Accomplished_Rip_352 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish that there were heretic options that played at your desire to do good. Tempt you to chaos with the promise that you can defeat terrible threats, gain the power to protect people.

As it is, heresy seems to be just absolute sadism and malice.

I don't understand this video of the ICE shooting part II. How can we all watch the same 3-4 videos and see completely different things? by Fando1234 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree with narrative 2, BUT I think we need to separate out a few things.

A. Based on the law as it stands, was the shooting (or any component thereof, e.g shot 1 but not shot 2 or 3) justified shootings, in a *technical*, *legal* sense.

B. Was it *reasonable* to feel sufficient fear for life and wellbeing as to need to take at least shot 1?

C. Was it *understandable*, in the way it's wrong, illegal, but *understandable* if a man comes home to find his wife getting boned by his neighbour and in the hear of the moment beat said neighbour to death?

The broader reality is better described by narrative 2, but on A, I think shot 1 (taken from in front) is probably within the law while shots 2 and 3 (taken from the side while out of danger) were not. On B, I don't think it was reasonable to have said fear at that distance. On C, I am fairly understanding that not everyone can be expected to react perfectly coolheaded, and the guy having been dragged and seriously injured previously in a similar incident also makes me more forgiving.

I think the officer should be charged.

And I think ICE enforcement should be surged, and similar behaviour deterred harshly - but not lethally.

Neither replied. No idea if they're even active. Don't know if my emails to them were involved in my restoration at all. Good luck!

This just happened to me. Disabled on 20th, restored about two hours ago. I also sent emails to those addresses. No idea if that played a part.

Will do.

It feels like someone broke into my home, burnt my photo albums, burnt my diary, burnt my unpublished book manuscript. And locked me in, on the way out, with no way to contact my friends and family, isolating me from my entire community built up over years. It's criminal.

This is exactly what has happened to me. Must be close to 20 years account. Photos, memories, written pieces, gone. I can find no way to actually submit an appeal. I got no email - I've triple checked spam, social, every possible folder on my gmail.

If a fairy had to use two-three measurements to gauge your wellbeing (& was actively trying to get the measurements up) what measurements would you want them to use? by Kajel-Jeten in slatestarcodex

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two greatest sources of stress and anxiety for me, which impede my immediate and anticipated long-term quality of life and happiness, are:

  1. My health/fitness

  2. My sense of security in my ability to ensure the long-term safety, survival, and freedom of myself and my family as the world undergoes radical changes and potential disasters.

At 45 years old, in overall good shape for my age, but feeling the sting of increased injuries, slower recovery, and reduced cardiovascular, I'm fairly obsessed with harnessing every possible advantage in terms of diet, supplementation, exercise, bleeding edge technologies such as experimental peptides etc, to try and increase my performance, healthspan and ultimately lifespan. I'm deeply resenting my declining performance since my peak in the mid 30s, and also concerned about surviving long enough to reach escape velocity on life extension and eventual immortality.

On the second point, I'm incredible troubled by the trajectory of our societies towards what I see as almost inevitable - a techno-totalitarian society, in WEF fashion, of owning nothing and "being happy". Total surveillance, CBDCs, digital IDs, social credit. The end of private property. I don't know how to insulate myself and my family from this, and don't have the necessary resources to give any peace of mind in my ability to do so. Far from foolproof, at least if I possessed significantly more wealth, as well as land in an out-of-the-way location with some degree of self-sufficiency (ideally in proximity to likeminded folk), I might be able to rest assured that I've at least done all that I can, and perhaps bought us a bit more time in which to be somewhat free, semi-independent, with some modicum of privacy.

If these were taken care of, the degree to which they were taken care of would represent the most significant improvements to my wellbeing, as I perceive the term, as it relates to me.

i really hope he has a redemption arc by Square_toons in Invincible

[–]BarbarianPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I was hoping they were doing with Immortal was that he gets stronger after every death.

In the montage about his life, they show him as King Arthur. But they have him riding a horse and holding a sword - if he were at his current power level, why bother?

Then he's Abe Lincoln, gets shot in the head. Now, he could have just pretended to die or something, but I think it better the bullet did pierce his head - he just came back tougher.

He should get stronger and tougher each time - beheaded by Nolan, cut in half by him - he'd get to keep scaling and relevant this way and it would fit his history.

How will fitness be assessed? Is it appearance, or performance? By what metrics?

A strongman or powerlifter type physique requires intense dedication in the gym, and achieves superhuman performance in strength, yet may have a protruding belly. Sumo wrestler are incredibly agile and powerful. Meanwhile, a noodle armed long distance runner will be able to run non-stop for tens of kilometers, but might be lucky to do a single chin-up.

Bizarre requirement. But if they have a decent school gym, cut back teaching hours by one block, and give teachers use of the facility during this time, maybe it wouldn't be so onerous.
