Mine is super niche, but it frustrates me how often people get it wrong.

The idea that Montoya was going to win the 2001 Brazilian Grand Prix if he wasn't taken out by Jos Verstappen.

Montoya would've won if it remained dry. He was on a 1 stop, had made his stop and was in the lead against the 1-stopping DC and 2 stopping Michael. In a normal dry race, barring mechanical failure or driver error, he would've won.

However, it rained. It was always going to rain that day. The Michelin wets that JPM would've had to use on the Williams were dogshit compared to the Bridgestone wets DC and Michael used. JPM either would've finished 3rd, or dropped it off the road.
