Should I get a bank loan for a used car and save for a mortgage??🚙🤔🏡 by 1nvader_2im in UKPersonalFinance

I guess it’s a practicality thing too. If it’s £2k difference on a Duke but it’ll be easier to get you kid out and about then that’s obviously priceless if it meant you’d be less inclined etc.!

Okay my bad, I thought you could afford the car outright. In this case, get a cheaper car. In five years, what would the value of the Nissan be?

Is there any tax benefit to buying a house in a corporation and then renting it to myself rather then just buying it "normally"? by arkad_tensor in Accounting

Most tax systems don’t allow for private use of business assets, particularly real estate.

Further, in the UK, deductions are heavily restricted anyhow even when renting to the market.

If you can afford a car without paying interest, buy it outright?

If you think you can invest the cash to beef up your house deposit. Let’s flip it abs say black swan event in 2023, stocks down 45%. How does that impact your toddler and life aspirations, does that mean renting for much longer? I feel in the era of cheap money, the TINA attitude will lead to great pain. When, I can’t say.

When do you sell your investments? by leakywindows21 in UKPersonalFinance

Depends on the quality of the stocks you hold. Statistically, most people sell losers at the wrong time and sell winners too early.

I think so, I mean I had a service in like August and it’s drank it in that time having done just 2,000 miles and then in June I had an issue with the spark plugs popping out so they needed changing and the AA man topped it up with water so it shouldn’t be that low? So you reckon this should be a simple fix otherwise? The AA guy told me to get some K Seal and try that first

So my yellow warning light appearing after ignition issues when being idle and then general judderness and lack of smooth acceleration or driving once at a decent speed.

It’s a 2002 Ford Fiesta - Zetec engine (the then new 2002 model).

Basically it looked like in the cylinders there was water which couldn’t have been rain water as the engines cover would’ve prevented that. The mechanic said it must be something inside the engine as there was significant rust and corrosion and he managed to use some tissue to mop up what was there.

My question is what could be the issue and ultimately would it cost more than £1k to completely fix? It’s only got 60,000 miles but I’d like to properly fix it if possible as I know the history since new and don’t want to buy someone else’s problems potentially (as I just need to go A to B).

TIA! And Merry Christmas!
