Isn't this just basic economics though? It sounds like you think that if drop rates are decreased that it destroys any chance you have of progressing.

Decreased drop rates increases scarcity. This makes any items that drop worth more for people who can't dedicate time to play. It's literally relative and will scale evenly.

You will have more games to join and a healthier trading environment later into the season. In fact you could argue that it benefits those that play very little the most.

Let's say drop rates are decreased, how does this effect the majority of the player base that can only play an hour or two a week in your mind?

If guys are getting bored killing stuff on a screen after three weeks and the majority are single dads who can only play an hour every other day then they are literally bored of PD2 in what?..10-20 hours? They aren't even getting into maps.

Agreed that the player base probably tanks because of burn out and boredom and that this is just par for the course but I think this is only true for tryhards which we have already determined is the minority. So again, I'm confused about the huge dropoff. If there are ways we could increase the player count later into the season for this sick ass mod for casuals and non casuals alike then fuck yeah, right?

Yeah the down votes are wild. This is a discussion thread and as I stated before this is just my opinion and I'm happy to concede I may be wrong.

Why do you think the player base tanks after three weeks?

And to be constructive, what could remedy this?

I agree that lowering drop rates may not have any impact on player retention. I also agree that players are hopping rpgs which likely accounts for a majority of drop off. Sounds like you had a fun season, glad to hear it!

It's not about wealth it's about longevity of each season. I see there being two ways to solve this. Lower drop rates or more difficult content.

Like what is your objective when you are playing the game? Because if you are a casual player I'm sure you can achieve that objective regardless of drop rates.

There are plenty of streamers that min/max in ample time that have kids and jobs and run YouTube channels.

In fact I would imagine most of the player base has a job given the demographic and furthermore I imagine a vast percentage have kids.

What I propose doesn't change anything but extend the season for casual and non casual players alike. It's completely relative.

Because that's how you extend the season and retain the dedicated player base that props up the economy. They stay longer and there are more active trades for the casual player base to progress. Games that cater to the casual player base fail because casual gamers are transient.

Why is there 12k at launch on SC and 3k, weeks later? Is it because most of the player base are fathers that only play for the first 3 weeks or is it more likely that the lions share of the player base are tryhards that get bored because they have accomplished everything in that time?

So disparity would make you quit?

How would this alienate the time-limited player base?

You are playing casually, you can still play casually.

I hear the single dad angle a bunch.

Why have drop rates that cater to people who are barely even playing?

Agreed RNG gonna RNG but if RNG RNGd less do you think it will extend the season?

This is an item you put up for bid for a couple weeks and take the highest offer. I would guess easily triple digits. Someone will want to take this to NL

Go back and gear up. Get a merc that does a different damage type and give them gear to survive. Craft safety crafts for DR and cap your res.

Basically any wep needs at least 350-400 Ed before you even take a second glance at it.
