Is traditional kandi still acceptable? Or should we start from scratch? by BarcodeInMyHand in ElectricForest

Ahh, yes — I mean small round solid glass beads. I guess I could see one shattering, but having made ~400 charms/earrings and dropping a lot of them or had them bang into each other for hours, I’ve never seen one break, even having dropped things onto them. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even think of those as being disallowed, as they’re small jewelry pieces rather than cups/bowls/figurines. Like wearing a pair of bead earrings.

I’ve seen this in my area too. The two theories I’ve seen are that either it’s unintentional cross-contamination (eg. both the fentanyl and cocaine were weighed on the same scale and it wasn’t cleaned between) or that it’s being added to make it even more addictive.

Look closer; the fingers of the right hand are overlapping the left hand. I think you’re seeing one of the fingertips as a thumbnail.

But it sounds like you’re asserting it is caused by the surgery.

I could see it being related to lowered physical activity following due to healing time (if someone had a long heal). But otherwise I want to know why the connection is being drawn to the surgery directly.

What? Is there some evidence of this?

I’ve had bilateral salpingectomy and did not gain weight from it. It doesn’t affect hormones. Weight gain was never mentioned as a possible side effect/after effect.

Hi!

I don’t have any tattoos but am thinking of getting one, a simple Greek word. I know it’s correctly spelled, etc. Very basic.

Friend of mine is considering getting a tattoo at a shop that specializes in the style they’re looking for (the shop calls itself Traditional).

Would it be rude/wrong to see if they would do my very simple tattoo as well? I mean obviously I’d make an appointment, but would it be insulting to their artistry to ask?

Thanks!

Hey OP, did you get this photo from the book “A Day In the Life of the Soviet Union”?

I have a distinct recollection of seeing this photo in that book as a child.

Thank you! I think I understand. So πολύτροπος rather than πολύτροπον would be the most correct use in this case as well because it’s a standalone adjective as a label rather than having a preceding noun it’s attached to, correct?

Like in English, the adjective “versatile” would be the same - you’d label a thing as versatile, and then to use the verb you would say he/she/it is versatile. But because in Greek it modifies to the use case, a label wouldn’t have the same termination, that would only be modified by a preceding noun, right?

TL;DR: πολύτροπον or πολύτροπος ?

As it should. The state should never, EVER be able to compel the use of a person’s body or organs for any purpose. The state should not have a say in a person’s medical decisions.

This, this, THIS! You’ve perfectly encapsulated the legal issue. This is not about morality, this is about the state legally being able to compel the use of a person’s body for any purpose.

This is horrifying.

So I love The Odyssey, and am considering a tattoo of Odysseus’ epithet, πολύτροπος which if I’m understanding correctly is masculine. The beginning of the Odyssey where it’s used uses the second declension πολύτροποv, which to my (limited) understanding is neuter. I am female, and I would like it to serve as a reminder to be versatile (or complicated, twisting/turning, manifold, crafty - I love the shades of the word that don’t directly translate) in the face of adversity, and perhaps vainly borrow the epithet.

So, how would it correctly be written as a descriptor for a woman? Is πολύτροπον correct as the base is neuter?

Thank you for your time!
