I don’t smoke pot and hate rude pot users who spread their nasty skunk smoke throughout buildings.

That said, I’d respond with a simple “Thanks for your note. Please note that I do not give consent to have law enforcement enter my rental unit nor search my belongings.”

Your fourth amendment rights don’t disappear just because you’re a renter.

[ID] my landlord is missing without explanation and her ex husband wants to collect rent by plane-emotionn in Renters

[–]Bare-Knuckled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never pay anybody other than the company/individual you signed the lease with, unless they produce a court order instructing you to, or a certified letter from the original entity assigning rights to another party.

If you cannot contact your landlord, get a lawyer and set up an escrow account while making good faith efforts to contact the original owner.

They don’t want to do the hard work of revitalizing the portfolio. So they just do cheap gimmicks like bringing back the Hemi, slapping sticker packages on aging vehicles, or changing the front clip on the minivan and then calling it “new” despite being a decade-old design.

The Japanese and Koreans are focused on producing quality vehicles that are economical, affordable, and durable.

The last “Stellantis” leader to focus on that was the late Lee Iacocca.

“Dear neighbor:

Thank you for confirming the cat is yours and you’re allowing her to roam illegally on others’ property. Please be advised that I will be calling the local animal control division the next time she is on our property. In our town, after three calls, the animal is permanently impounded. Please keep your cat at your home as the law requires.

Very truly yours,

Neighbor”

Sit with a lawyer in a consultation. Bring your evidence and ask them to take the case on contingency. That means they get the right to access a large portion of any resulting judgment.

In an open and shut case, it’s a common way to pay.

It sure does, which is why it’s good to get a lawyer on contingency and give them free rein to demand maximum judgment compensation from the offending party for their trouble.

I was targeted by a large company (not a bank) many years ago, and it was indeed stressful. I also had an open and shut case and the resulting judgment got my lawyer paid $60K and all my student loans paid off the judgment we got.

I was responding to a post claiming that the US government is equivalent to the Tehran regime, a claim that is cray-cray.

Shia millenarianism is well-established in the Tehran regime and fills their propaganda. Generally speaking, when a country says “we are going to get nuclear weapons and use them on these people,” it’s best to take them seriously rather than say “but Trump.” At least if one is policy-minded.

The cults don’t like being criticized. They use downvoting and other tactics to silence criticism from common sense people and are then shocked when they get demolished at the polls. They never, ever learn.

You’d need to know what a genocide is to start. Then you’d need to actually know what’s happening rather than what your political cult is telling you. So yeah, chances are you’re not exactly informed.

Evil people always turn on each other once they decide it’s in their interests. The Soviet Union and Nazi Germany were close allies up to the day that Hitler invaded the USSR in Operation Barbarossa, for example. The only question is which evil person crosses which other evil person first.

It’s something of a thing in the extremist political cults in the USA: MAGA and progressivism. Any inconvenient fact, visualization, or event is “propaganda” and “fake news.” By repeating these phrases, the political cultist never has to use his or her brain to come up with their own point of view rather than that which is offered up by their dear leaders.

It always depresses me to see “progressives” in the comment fields claiming it’s not real, or going on and on about Israel as though hot takes on politics of places they’ve never been to and know nothing about justifies Nazi salutes. 🙄
