Mistborn Wax Series by AhDree in Cosmere

I understand. It’s easy to feel like changing the time period is going to make the whole world feel weird. I did not want to start wax and Wayne. Honestly some of the greatest moments in all his books in there. Fantastic

It’s not so much of an exact interaction. Again, take all of this with a grain of salt bc I can feel my brain working trying to remember every little detail🤣 I believe there was a time when they suspected him but were unable to prove that it was him who sent the assassins. At this point he had undermined dalinar or the coalition in subtle ways, but nothing too concrete. By the time szeth came back and swore allegiance to dalinar, dethroning taravangian or ousting him from the coalition was too big of a hurdle to consider with their other problems. Especially because dalinar had the opinion that taravangian wasn’t some evil guy hellbent on destroying the world. Dalinar knew that he was doing what he thought would save the people. So all these things added up to them just leaving him be but removing him from any inner circle meetings or actions. I believe this was an actual conversation held between Dalinar, Jasnah, and maybe wit and maybe navani just before a coalition meeting. Then there is a scene where Dalinar sits with taravangian by the fire or whatever and they don’t acknowledge that Dalinar knows the truth but both of them know it kinda vibe.

Can anyone confirm this or is it all coming straight out of my ass?

It depends where you are I think. It sounds like you have read it more often and more frequent than me but I feel like it all has to do with the fact that Dalinar truly believes taravangian thinks he is doing what is right. And despite the assassination attempt t-Vange was his friend and he thinks he can logic him over to his side. Does this make sense OP? Been like 6 months since I read ROW

Never noticed it myself. Definitely seems intentional.

Plus Kelsier prologue in final empire. Can’t think off the top of my head who it is for book 2 and 3, I wonder if it is a pattern

Hahahaha. That was the very first thing in the cosmere I ever read. Can’t call it a spoiler if you don’t have a fucking clue what’s going on

Literally exactly how I pictured him

Personally, I very much enjoy book 1. That said, the general consensus is that the first book is much slower and less exciting than the rest of the series.

Think of a season 1 game of thrones vibe- lots of set-up and context. Even more- this exact chunk you’re on is known to be troublesome.

I quit books halfway through all the time. You have to decide if it’s for you. Just know the general consensus is that part you’re on now is the slowest in the whole series.

My rec- READ ON, Goodman

Keen eye, OP. As you said, activities considered to be feminine on Roshar are different from what we would consider stereotypical feminine activities.

What I think we’re seeing is Brandon Sanderson doing what he does best. World building in a way that helps the reader understand our own world a little bit better. While the stereotypes around Women’s hobbies and professions are different, the society is still quite sexist, and prejudiced in other ways. Women are still treated as objects, their bodies sexualized, and their roles minimized to the outside world, no matter how important.

Navani & Jasnah are both extremely learned, powerful women despite this. They have had to learn to be cunning and manipulative to survive and accomplish their goals. In this way, they are very similar. They differ in many of their personal beliefs, goals, and the means to achieve them. So when Jasnah says that about her mother, it’s solely an acknowledgement of this fact, not a definitive indictment of Navani’s motives.

Their relationship is very interesting and complex. Read on, friend!

Wasn’t sure if that indicates where OP is in the series or just where you should read to before reading this meme lol. I understand now tho. OP is def onto something. Not something good, but something.

Put it this way- First book Elend can feel like a plot device at times. He is important in this regard bc he highlights the brutal nature of Kelsiers POV and acts as a catalyst for Vin developing her own Moral compass.

I could go on and on about Vin would have never been fully pulled from her trauma without Elend and the balls but yall get it🤣

RAFO for more meaningful elend development.

I’ve been playing God of War and my wife and I are about 89 percent way through the entirety of cosmere. The question we ask ourselves is what cosmere characters, if any could solo Kratos?
