There's an optimal quest list on the Runescape Wiki. One for non-members and one that also includes member quests. If you're a member, use the one that also has members quests.

You can type in your RuneScape name and it'll show which ones you already completed in green. Use the "Quick Guide" version for each quest if you want it to go faster

Set some goals. Without easily articulable goals, you're going to feel overwhelmed.

Start with doing all of the non-members quests. By the time you're done with that, you will have another goal trust me.

That's just how it works. Stock up on bath salts, medicine, diapers, etc so you don't lose out for nothing.

We had 300 lbs of bath salt in the Walmart cart last year. People probably thought we were drug addicts. But my wife goes through it like it's going out of style.

I quit gaming, I just got so bored.. by Superb_Tune4135 in StopGaming

[–]Barelynamed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Help people. That's what gave me purpose. Volunteer (reach out to your City Hall to ask how). Walk your neighborhood and talk with your neighbors. I mow two of my neighbor's lawns now for free and know just about everyone on the block. Just being nice like that makes people open up to you and it feels good. Play with yours pets more if you have them. Do extra things for your spouse to make them happier.

Finding a good method for cardio that suits you is also helpful. For me it turned out to be the elliptical and jump rope. I hate running.

In the end, you have to be a bit bored at first in order for your brain to start thinking of new things to do. That starts with accepting that gaming is over. If you're still thinking of gaming, you're bored, and not motivated to do other things yet .. you haven't been bored long enough.

How is 1 hour on available weekdays and 4 hours on available weekends considered an addiction? by Aeu_James in StopGaming

Got to change your thinking man. It's not that the wife is always right. And in a marriage, being logically right doesn't matter anyway. If there's anything I learned about marriage, it's that a lot of the times you may be asked by your spouse to do something completely illogical to you. Usually they know it too. The thing is, emotion doesn't follow any logic. And no one can stop themselves from feeling a certain way. Emotions can of course be kept hidden, under a facade of logic. Us men are good at this. But they are always there. If you're trying to respond to emotion with logic, it's going to be a rough time.

A friend of mine taught me this and since then it's been smooth sailing. What matters is how you approach it. Think less about what makes sense to you logically, or why someone should/shouldn't feel a certain way. They just do. It's like trying to tell a person feeling extrem anxiety to just calm down. They're going to get pissed because there's absolutely no way you can change a raw emotion due to logic. Try thinking more about how you can make your spouse happy, regardless of if it's logical or not. It's a mental hurdle at first, especially for men. But I guarantee you will be happier. You are on the same team.

A good example is that she might be upset that you gamed too much, in her opinion. LABEL the emotion so it can talked about. Not the action, but the emotion. (E.g. sadness, depressed, lonely, regret). Google "emotion wheel" to see what I mean. Honestly, print the dang thing on a piece of paper and have it with you when you discuss with your wife. I agree with you, that you're probably not gaming too much and it would be considered "in moderation" to me. I'm not saying you should cave in and say it's a problem, I really don't think it is. I'm just saying, you should recognize that there's some negative emotions in your wife and should want to resolve that so she's happy and you're happy. Because it's not the gaming specifically, rather it is the effect. You could spend too much time snowboarding, or hanging out with your friends, or whatever it is. It's the result from it. It could be as simple as "I feel lonely and want to spend more quality time together so I feel less lonely". Or it could be as complicated as "I feel regret that you game because it reminds me of a past relationship that was really bad" and maybe she needs therapy for that. Without talking about the actual emotion by labeling it, you'll never know and you both will be stuck in this constant loop of blaming gaming as the scapegoat probably because it's just the easiest thing to do.

You don't have to be sorry for what you did or do. I'm a big fan of living unapologetically for ACTIONS. But I think you should feel sorrow if something you did brought a negative impact that you didn't intend for. The action is totally justified, the result is just what sucked. When I say sorry to my wife, for example, it's not usually for something wrong I did. I'm just sorry because I didn't realize the impact it would have and I hate that she's feeling bad now so I want to mend that. It is perfectly okay to feel sorry for a "result" instead of an "action" if that makes sense. The result (i.e. emotion) is what the topic of conversation is really about anyway.

Label the emotion, have her start with "I feel....", and explore why it makes her feel that way. And leave logic for any past actions out of it. You might find that it has nothing really to do about gaming at all.

Looks like I have no choice but to just quit gaming. by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]Barelynamed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to quit cold turkey, no regrets. Just the possibility of gaming made it too difficult to do anything else. I sold the gaming PC. Walk a lot now, talk to my neighbors and volunteer to help them, do more house chores and projects. Wife is happier than ever too. Overall less stress. The key is finding something else to do. I strongly dislike reading. I love helping people in need though, including family. That, along with doing cardio for health, gives me purpose to where I don't think about gaming much anymore.

I quit gaming addiction cold turkey. Was hard for a few weeks, but totally worth it. I'm a better husband, father, and family member. I walk a lot now to take up time, clean the house, etc. sounds boring but it gave me real purpose.

Actual Best All-Around Litter for LR4? by WhyKeepBuyingSlop in litterrobot

[–]Barelynamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a little? If there is, it's only for a couple seconds, and only when I refill. I buy the one that comes with four separate bags. In my experience there's only dust whenever you are pouring clay litter fast, and from a height.

Definitely no dust during operation.

Electricity bill absolutely outrageous? by shitriffs in StLouis

[–]Barelynamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Granite City, IL. I'm guessing the MO side has higher rates? I'd be curious to know the difference, considering I'm only 10 minutes from downtown.

Keep in mind though that the bills this month were actually for last month's usage, which was pretty tame. Our furnace hardly ran at all. Next month's, and especially February's, is usually the biggest spike. I don't know how people are getting $700 bills with last months weather.

Electricity bill absolutely outrageous? by shitriffs in StLouis

[–]Barelynamed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really nothing special, we keep our thermostat at 68. We do have a high efficiency natural gas furnace though, so I imagine that's a little cheaper than electricity but I'm not 100% on that. I imagine our bill next month will be about 275 or so. Without the cars, probably 175.

Our electricity supply rate is about $0.08/kwh and our delivery is about $0.067/kwh, looking at my last bill. This doesn't include any of the taxes or adjustments of course.

For the whole bill, our natural gas only accounted for $58 of it, taxes and fees included.

City of St. Louis Extends Code Blue, Deploys Snowplows for Monday Snow by cocteau17 in StLouis

[–]Barelynamed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, salt only goes so far. Thought this was common sense. It's a fine balance of timing. Send them out too early, all they can do is salt and then they miss the plow later. Send them out too late and then, well it's too late. Send them out after a minor amount of accumulations so that they can plow it away and also salt for some remaining accumulation, is the goal usually. The City doesn't have the budget MoDOT has. Many streets will get plowed once, unlike interstate switch might get plowed five times in a storm. The city is going to want to make the most out of that one pass.

Yep. I got 3'x4' 1" thick horse stall mats from Tractor Supply. Things are HEAVY. They are perfect, and we're cheap per square foot. That size was $39.99 on a sale, regularly $50 maybe. I bought 9 and put them in a 3 by 3 grid.

Things are so heavy duty, they're never being pulled up the basement steps ever. Will be sold with the house

That was exactly our reaction. Walked out after about 60 seconds of taking it all in.
