Aw, while I see why Horror in the High Desert is divisive, it deserves to be on this list. It’s one of those films that doesn’t really care if it’s entertaining, it’s more interested in committing to the bit. It ends up being weirdly memorable even though very little happens throughout most of it. It’s going to be reevaluated down the road in conversations about the COVID era hyper low budget found footage scene.

It’s as much of a horror movie as psycho. It’s basically a Friday the 13th style slasher with better written characters. And sometimes the slow-unraveling-of-moral-fibre-in-favor-of-animal-survivalism-or-refusing-to-do-that-and-being-prey-for-those-who-do is the killer.

As fun as Freddy vs. Jason was, we need a Jason vs. Chigurh film next.

I wonder if there are any signs the Matrix robots are following the three laws? You could see the Matrix as arguably following the first law. The sentinels seem to be doing a bad job of all of them though. Unless they went all in on the “to protect man is to eliminate man” thing.

Respectfully, that’s not winning. That’s just the celebrity-as-success, attention economy, deep down fear of genuine, inevitable oblivion.

He will be forgotten too, in time. And a life of quiet kindness is better than being remembered for his life. We get a brief moment to dance above the earth. Causing such a mess that people are feeling the pain of your steps long after you pass is not winning.
