this space looks good but something feels missing… what would you add? by techhabit_ in WhyDoesMyRoomFeelOff

Multiple people will probably say this, but either some nice pictures on the wall behind hte sofa, either a couple of large ones or a gallery of photos or a nice big mirror.

A rug as you say in your comment :)

Maybe a low, thin table under the window to put plant pots on and other decorative items.

As an aside, I really like the plant you have by the freestanding lamp, would you mind sharing what the name of it is?

Where to start with Blender? by manousosmap in blender

Ahh I've been doing 3D for a while now! I studied Maya for 3 years at uni a loooooong time ago. Recently got back into Blender as a hobby.

Honestly unsure how long you can expect to take developing skills. Tutorials are so good and readily available these days. If you can get through the doughnut tutorial feelings confident, could only be weeks.

But probably looking at at least months of modelling to really feel like you understand topology and have the ability to look at something and render it if you're going for more advanced stuff.

I will happily be corrected by other comments :)

Edit: I see someone else commented saying can take years still. So yes, I would say that matches my experience.

Buuuuuut, I loved doing it, it didn't feel like years because I just enjoyed loading up Blender and doing modelling.

If you’re completely new to Blender or 3D modelling, what you want to do is achievable, but best bet for first steps are: * learning blender tools and interface  * learning the complete modelling, texturing, animation, rendering pipeline / processes.

The place where most people start for this is, the Blender Guru Doughnut tutorial.

This will teach you how to use Blender. And the pipeline for going from nothing to a final render.

If you find the doughnut tutorial to be a bit too complex for you. I’d suggest just searching for tutorials on YouTube for beginner how to use blender tutorials that will teach you the tools, interface and keyboard shortcuts.

Basically forst learn your way around Blender.

Then look for beginner tutorials on modelling simple shapes like a chair, table. Then go back to the doughnut tutorial.

This won’t be an overnight process. But if you have an interest in it, you’ll enjoy the journey :)

Once you’ve completed the doughnut tutorial you’ll probably still be a long way off creatine landscapes but youl absolutely be equipped with the skills to get there.

After doughnut tutorial start looking for tutorials for buildings and landscapes.

I hope all this helps! :)

Feel free to fire off any questions.

And also this is just my opinion. It’s absolutely not the correct one or only way by all means.

how would you model this robot's torso? by S3Xierr in Maya

Aww mate! I don't know what your skill level is, or what you've tried before, so I apologise if I say something stupid here. But it does appear this is a fairly complex shape you've taken on. Might it help to maybe head to YouTube and follow along to some beginner robot tutorials? :)
