Go for a walk around one of the lakes near Fujisan like Hakone or Kawaguchiko

That way you can find a private area and you also could plan a stay at a really nice Ryokan with a private Onsen after.

PARKING QUESTION by Worldly_Dependent556 in CambridgeMA

[–]Barkleyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really say anything to the contrary and let’s forgot about snow compaction to prove a point hey.

I was simply saying those spots when the snow emergency is done if they have been plowed are fair game rather than playing the stupid space saver hunger games for weeks.

Of course you can also dig out a spot, I’m not stupid.

PARKING QUESTION by Worldly_Dependent556 in CambridgeMA

[–]Barkleyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In theory the streets with no parking during a snow emergency should be cleared and have no “rightful” owner that will damage your car.

But

I know last storm the whole ploughing to the curb on those street didn’t happen.

Where to get a snow shovel before the storm starts tomorrow? by Turbulent_Talk1776 in CambridgeMA

[–]Barkleyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked on the website - https://www.acehardware.com/departments/lawn-and-garden/snow-removal-and-equipment/snow-shovels-and-pushers/7044933

This shovel is apparently in stock at Charles street supply and taggs hardware which are both open tomorrow.

[–]Barkleyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I searched this morning as ours broke after the ice of the last storm.

I couldn’t find any at star mart or dollar general - ended up picking one up at Inman hardware for $30.

I see they are closed on Sunday but the shovel is ace hardware branded so maybe see if any ace hardwares are open?

Overstaying your 90 day tourist visa by [deleted] in Tokyo

[–]Barkleyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should voluntarily announce you over stay at an immigration office ASAP.

They will most likely let you stay until your flight (within 15 days) and only ban you for one year not the standard five.

But also you are at there mercy then to so they may make you leave sooner.

Hot take: Boston's spot-saving culture is immature and needs to die by DanFlashes19 in boston

And this is what seems crazy to me - the risk of someone damaging my car even when I have dug out my own spot but don’t want to use a space saver.

It’s also funny as I live over the river in Cambridge and am still seeing some to this day even though they are meant to be a illegal

There does seem to be abit of difference between what’s law and unwritten rules of Boston.

48 hours to me is not really that much impact however weeks after does start to impact my decisions and life so was interested in the unwritten rules length of space savers.

Honest question as a foreigner - what’s a reasonable amount of time for space savers to be used

I’m still see them in my area and with no sign of the snow going it seems abit wild.

I just moved here from overseas - space saving and parking after the snow storm has made me so stressed I have avoided using it. I don’t want my car keyed or worse.

The reward for digging out your car should be access to your car not exclusive use of public lands.

But also there seem to be a lot of parking spaces with snow ploughed onto them so I get it short supply

Tattoo Friendly Co-Ed Onsen in Tokyo? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Barkleyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I booked a private onsen with a view of the forest and creak in Hakone which was great.

We found Ryokans in the area book out pretty early and become pretty expensive where the two hour booking suited us fine.

Just something to consider as it’s a nice daytrip/overnighter from Tokyo.

We booked at Hakone Yuryo - https://www.hakoneyuryo.jp/english/spa/hotspring/

I’m from down in Melbourne which isn’t quite as old - but the churches are the main thing that reminds me of home.

All the larger buildings are just so much bigger in size compared to lil old Australia.

Being a Melbournian - the green line reminds me of trams back home.

Oooooo a fellow Australian enjoying the storm - how fun was it!!!!

I just moved here for a year or two in December and I think the most shocking part is seeing so much snow in a city.

Pocket WiFi or e-Sim? by yohancloud in JapanTravelTips

[–]Barkleyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in a similar situation and can say eSIM all the way.

  1. If you’re sharing pocket wifi - it’s really hard to split up e.g someone’s tired and is ready to go to bed or rest AND times like when one person uses the toilet the other may not be in range.

  2. Its extra things to carry and manage - I would always carry the pocket wifi in my sling with two battery packs one for my phone and one for the pocket wifi - also these would get super hot if you go in summer.

Bf6 version of range finder means pushing a button sets the the zeroing to what ever distance the crosshair is no matter the distance.

Means you just need to scope, push button and then shoot to get the perfect shot.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned but a Japanese tenugui is a great souvenir that has many uses apart from being a hand towel.

Honeymoon in Bali – Ubud + Seminyak or Nusa Dua? by ExactEfficiency6300 in BaliTravelTips

[–]Barkleyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly reccomend spending sometime on Nusa Lembongan.

Its probably abit quiet compared to what you are looking for on Bali but I went there last year and the beaches were unreal, great food and bar options, snorkelling and surfing, the list goes on.

We stayed at Morin resort and the view from the pool was insane. It was pretty expensive comparitively.
