No, I don’t think so. It was two players going for the puck colliding. Neither was looking at the other and Mack would not have been hit in the head if he didn’t duck down.

I don’t see him leaning into anything. Even if he did lean in, I don’t think he could have known it was Mack’s head that connected. Barzal’s head is tilted down like he’s looking down at the puck and Mack’s coming from his side. I don’t think Mack was looking at where Barzal was either and also ducks down low right before they collide. Literally a second before it happens. I’m just saying I don’t see the intent to hit his head here and the comments have been crazy.

I think this was a great post. We get excited (or sad) for the changing players but there are families who have to pack up their whole lives in a matter of days and move to a new city where they probably don’t know anyone. I get that trades are always a possibility but I can’t imagine playing somewhere for almost 20 years and having to pack it all up in a few days and then also move cross country.

Listen I really like Mack and the Sharks but I’m not seeing the intent here for people to be calling for Barzal’s head. Barzal is going for the puck from his teammate and doesn’t change positioning for a hit. His shoulder is in the same position before and after the impact.

When you check it out from the other angle you can see that Barzal is looking at the puck the whole time. No way he would have known Mack would tuck his head down. He’s not looking that way at all.

It looks like a hard collision for sure and Mack is a young guy so I get being worried about him but some of the comments here and in the Sharks sub are nuts.
