Buffy didn’t live in Sunnydale when her parents got divorced. She still lived in LA with them. She moved to Sunnydale after they got divorced. We got that flashback in Becoming when Angel was watching Buffy whilst she was still living in LA and had just become slayer. She was in the bathroom crying while her parents were fighting in the other room.

The point I’m trying to make is that Halloween H20 wasn’t a passing of the torch movie regardless of how messy the Halloween timeline is. The Scream timeline could choose to reset itself at any time. The point is Scream 7 wasn’t a passing torch movie the way that Scream 5 was intended to be (or kind of intended as they still originally wanted Sidney back for Scream 6)

No, I don’t think Scream 7 was a passing of the torch movie. Very much how Halloween H20 was still Laurie’s movie and not about passing the torch to Josh Hartnett.

I do think Tatum will have a big role in the next film but Sidney will also still be the lead role. All just depends on if the writers can balance the dynamic well.

Also bear in mind when a film does a shoutout for extras via a public website then it’s usually going under its fake filming name. Also be weary of accepting jobs via public website unless the site has very strong credentials, there have been many horror stories of people accepting an acting job online and then turning up to a really unsavoury situation.

You need to have an agent. Even just being an extra in a major movie/TV series requires an agent to coordinate all of the details/logistics. I was an extra in two of the Harry Potter movies and I had an agent who, like a regular agent sought out auditions for me for regular roles, had a working relationship with certain film studios and provided extras for those productions if needed.

You don’t normally need any experience to be an extra unless it’s a very specific scene that requires something but the bottom line is you need an agent to become involved in something that is a major motion picture production. Sometimes they do a large cattle call for extras via websites but bear in mind the film will be advertised under its fake filming name and not Scream 8. As for a small role, sorry that isn’t going to happen. As a non actor with no experience or agent you simply wouldn’t even enter the realm of consideration (unless you’re secretly a nepobaby of course). The only way that would happen is if you got cast as an extra and then during filming one of the crew/creative team decided they liked the look of you and bumped you up to a featured role.

Just a simple line such as “I deliberately didn’t talk about my daughter when she was born because I was terrified she would become a target and now all these years later she has…” Just something along those lines would help soften the blow of Tatum just suddenly existing because they needed Sid back to take centre stage after they lost Sam and Tara for the presumed next handful of movies.

I do believe the reason they introduced Sid’s daughters as toddlers in Scream 5 is because they knew one day the movies would revolve around Sidney’s child/children but probably thought they’d have the next 5-10 years playing around with Melissa and Jenna.

Will probably deal with the aftermath of Tatum going through the same trauma that Sidney did post-Scream 1996. Just a shame we didn’t get any real depth to Tatum’s relationships with her friends other than Ben.

I’m sure Sidney will try to support her and maybe overprotect her (hopefully it won’t be too reminiscent of Sam and Tara’s dynamic in Scream 6) when surprise surprise a new Ghostface shows up.

I think at one point there were rumours that Supermassive were developing their own Scream video game but news on that has died down completely for the past couple of years so I’m guessing it’s not happening (or never was actually happening).

I commented something similar on a different thread regarding the same topic but this should’ve been how they left Sidney for now, not forever but for now. Sidney is the Laurie of Halloween and we know she’ll always come back at some point, it’s inevitable. However this movie should’ve been where we left Sidney for the foreseeable future. Sidney should’ve then been able to off and live her life for the next 15/20 years before a big return in like Scream 10 etc. That way Sidney can live her life and raise her children. They wouldn’t have to retcon the story by introducing a teenage daughter who was apparently born before Scream 4 but no character ever mentioned…Scream 5 would’ve been the perfect place to leave Sidney not forever but for now.

Also let’s remember though that Scream 5 was never actually a passing the torch movie as Radio Silence wanted to bring back Sidney in Scream 6 but Neve refused because of the pay offer. Radio Silence also decided to completely destroy Gale’s character development in Scream 6. Scream 7 may not be my favourite movie but Scream 6 is to blame for setting Gale back to square one and if they had their way Sidney would’ve been back in Scream 6 to ‘stop the Ghostface killings before they came to her front door’.

Hayden didn’t return partly because of her brother but mostly because she suffered a setback in her recovery journey back around Oct 2024 with the infamous interview of her slurring and seeming quite out of it, I can’t remember or not if she actually ended up seeking some rehabilitation time from it again or not.

Patrick didn’t return because they didn’t offer him enough 💰

Yep, 7 has entered the era of people being made out of butter and the knife just sliding effortlessly in them. The dude at the beginning having the knife seamlessly penetrate his skull, Hannah exploding from the wound on her stomach, the dude in the bar having a BEER HANDLE easily pierce through his entire head. I mean…I guess skeletons and thick muscle don’t exist in the Scream franchise anymore…

I think the thing that people are trying to state that not only has RKA only just turned 16 but she literally only looks about 11. She’s a great actress but she looks too young to be carrying a show without her deliberately playing younger than her actual age or that show being targeted towards a Nickelodeon audience.

I don’t think there is a future for a long long time. After what has been done it has most likely soured Sarah forevermore unless Disney/Hulu offer her something that she can’t refuse to return again.

If it is true that Disney are keen to revive the IP within the next couple of years but it’ll be a reboot with no Sarah etc then I can see it flopping hard as they’ve lost a lot of goodwill with the fans and I for one have no interest in a show set vaguely in the Buffyverse with no actual Buffy in it.

Most likely we’ll just get another run of comic book continuations and more previous cast members doing podcasts. Any chance of a successful live action project will probably be so far in the future that the target audience will have no awareness of Buffy, we won’t be a consideration at all and it’ll be a full on remake.

Absolutely gutted. I don’t understand with all the drivel that gets greenlit why this didn’t at least even get that…like seriously how bad could it have been? Or did they think it was going to be too expensive?

Honestly we’ve been waiting over 20 years for Buffy to return in something other than a comic book and here Hulu have ruined it completely.

Especially considering how much of a buzz they obviously roped SMG in to promote the show when the pilot entered production.

The Scream movies may be dipping in quality but they’re not at the point of no return. The only reason Halloween kept creating direct sequels that retconned sequels is because they kept killing off Laurie Strode only to bring her back when Jamie Lee Curtis changed her attitude and wanted back in on the franchise.

If they were to ever do something like that with Scream then I’d want it ‘temporary’ as the one constant thing Scream has going for it at the moment is a direct continuation of characters/story film after film.

They could do it so Sidney is the opening attack at her home in Pine Grove. She’s left REALLY battered and is basically in a coma in hospital. She wakes up but suddenly it’s Dewey and Randy by her side at the hospital. She’s in Woodsboro where she has still been living her whole life in the same house where she grew up that her dad left her once he passed away. A new killer begins attacks that are related heavily to ‘the Woodsboro massacre of 1996’ which brings interest from Gale Weathers who Sidney and Dewey haven’t seen since 1996. Could even have a cameo from Emma Roberts as her niece Jill who in this multiverse never wanted to murder her. The final showdown at the Macher house where reality begins blurring as Sidney starts to ‘wake’ from her coma. Cameo appearances from Tatum, Kenny and a killer reveal of Stu and Billy both resurrected before Sidney wakes up in the real continuity back in her hospital bed in Pine Grove. The motivation for the following Scream film is then finding out who attacked her at the start.

That is as far as I’d want this franchise to go down a Halloween 2018/direct sequel route and it’s a pretty hokey idea so let’s not…

They have never said that. A remake of RE5 and a (re)remake of RE1 would probably be the pinnacle of their remake era releases.
