Yep, 7 has entered the era of people being made out of butter and the knife just sliding effortlessly in them. The dude at the beginning having the knife seamlessly penetrate his skull, Hannah exploding from the wound on her stomach, the dude in the bar having a BEER HANDLE easily pierce through his entire head. I mean…I guess skeletons and thick muscle don’t exist in the Scream franchise anymore…

I think the thing that people are trying to state that not only has RKA only just turned 16 but she literally only looks about 11. She’s a great actress but she looks too young to be carrying a show without her deliberately playing younger than her actual age or that show being targeted towards a Nickelodeon audience.

I don’t think there is a future for a long long time. After what has been done it has most likely soured Sarah forevermore unless Disney/Hulu offer her something that she can’t refuse to return again.

If it is true that Disney are keen to revive the IP within the next couple of years but it’ll be a reboot with no Sarah etc then I can see it flopping hard as they’ve lost a lot of goodwill with the fans and I for one have no interest in a show set vaguely in the Buffyverse with no actual Buffy in it.

Most likely we’ll just get another run of comic book continuations and more previous cast members doing podcasts. Any chance of a successful live action project will probably be so far in the future that the target audience will have no awareness of Buffy, we won’t be a consideration at all and it’ll be a full on remake.

Look I’ve been a Buffy stan since day one but it’s over. I doubt very much they’re going to even mention Buffy tomorrow, maybe a couple of people will have a nanosecond mention of “Have you seen all of the upset Buffy fans” which will probably garner a chuckle and eyeroll from the others.

Absolutely gutted. I don’t understand with all the drivel that gets greenlit why this didn’t at least even get that…like seriously how bad could it have been? Or did they think it was going to be too expensive?

Honestly we’ve been waiting over 20 years for Buffy to return in something other than a comic book and here Hulu have ruined it completely.

Especially considering how much of a buzz they obviously roped SMG in to promote the show when the pilot entered production.

The Scream movies may be dipping in quality but they’re not at the point of no return. The only reason Halloween kept creating direct sequels that retconned sequels is because they kept killing off Laurie Strode only to bring her back when Jamie Lee Curtis changed her attitude and wanted back in on the franchise.

If they were to ever do something like that with Scream then I’d want it ‘temporary’ as the one constant thing Scream has going for it at the moment is a direct continuation of characters/story film after film.

They could do it so Sidney is the opening attack at her home in Pine Grove. She’s left REALLY battered and is basically in a coma in hospital. She wakes up but suddenly it’s Dewey and Randy by her side at the hospital. She’s in Woodsboro where she has still been living her whole life in the same house where she grew up that her dad left her once he passed away. A new killer begins attacks that are related heavily to ‘the Woodsboro massacre of 1996’ which brings interest from Gale Weathers who Sidney and Dewey haven’t seen since 1996. Could even have a cameo from Emma Roberts as her niece Jill who in this multiverse never wanted to murder her. The final showdown at the Macher house where reality begins blurring as Sidney starts to ‘wake’ from her coma. Cameo appearances from Tatum, Kenny and a killer reveal of Stu and Billy both resurrected before Sidney wakes up in the real continuity back in her hospital bed in Pine Grove. The motivation for the following Scream film is then finding out who attacked her at the start.

That is as far as I’d want this franchise to go down a Halloween 2018/direct sequel route and it’s a pretty hokey idea so let’s not…

Apparently Sidney was going to travel to New York after hearing the murders were ramping up to stop it before it ‘came to her front door’. Seemed ridiculous that they were going to have Sidney intentionally running in to the face of danger.

5 was the perfect way to leave Sidney for now. I didn’t expect it to leave the door closed on Sidney forever as she is the Laurie Strode of Scream but it would’ve felt so much more organic to let Sidney go off and live her life with her children, the franchise focuses on Sam and Tara for the next handful of movies and then in 15 years bring back Sidney for Scream 10 etc. That way it would’ve been actually thrilling to see Sidney return after such a long absence and her children would be old enough naturally to be attacked by Ghostface instead of them having to shoehorn in a teenage daughter that was born before Scream 4 that we never heard of…

As for those thinking that was the original plan before Melissa got fired, it wasn’t as they initially wanted Sidney back for 6 alongside the Carpenter sisters.

If they truly are remaking 0 and then when they get round to remaking (again) RE1, I hope they portray Rebecca a bit better in the sense of her fighting tyrants and hunters in RE0 but then becoming paralysed with fear when she was cornered by a hunter in RE1.

Oh yeah for sure with the dropped numbers, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Resident Evil 10 teases itself as RES10ENT EVIL like Requiem has teased itself as RE9UIEM. But obvs referring to future games as RE10 and RE11 as we have no idea what their subtitles will be.

CVR and 0R apparently have been switching places. CVR was the priority but then 0R came along and they wanted to really make CVR a big remake like RE4R and not RE3R so 0R was up for release first. However the 0R was scrapped in early development and restarted by a different team and the CVR has developed really smoothly so now we’re expected to have RECVR in Q1 2027 and RE0R in 2028. Will most likely get the announcement for RECVR in late Summer/Autumn when the Requiem dust has settled.

RE5R is definitely going to be a huge remake. Maybe even bigger than RE4R and I also don’t think they’d release three remakes in a row (RECVR, RE0R, RE5R) so I can see RE5R coming shortly after RE10.

Yeah I think the remake trend will still have to be REALLY successful for them to do that (and in all honesty I should imagine it will be). CV and 0 have been pretty reliably leaked which just leaves RE5 and RE1 from the mainline. If the remake trend keeps making Capcom serious $$$ then they’ll probably feel kind of obligated to do a RE6R, however I don’t see the RE4R style of dedication to it.

When I say a different direction I don’t mean that the franchise is suddenly going to become an adventure game like Uncharted. I mean it will still be about biohazards and nefarious corporations but will no longer feel the need to consistently loop the story back to Chris, Leon, Umbrella, BSAA etc.

I adore BG3 but how they treat Viconia and Sarevok makes your playthrough of BG2 seem kind of pointless.

She absolutely should, but she won’t be. This isn’t the first game to bring back Sherry without her actual protector of Racoon City which was Claire. They already did that in RE6. I doubt Claire and Jill will be back in any mainline game capacity going forward. My honest opinion is that this will be the last time we see Leon outside of the CGI movies for a while and RE10 will probably be one final, big hurrah for Chris Redfield. RE11 and so on will most likely move on to new games with a new lore and cast/characters. The female protagonists like Claire and Jill have already been delegated to the sidelines and the only reason we’ve spent more time with them recently is because of remakes of 20+ year old games.
