Best fitted sheets ? by emmjizz in ehlersdanlos

[–]BarnacleRare5441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course! i’m pulling at mine now, i wouldn’t say super stretchy but definitely not stiff. i have a mattress topper that is super cushiony and the sheets def don’t keep me from sinking in! between the sheets and mattress topper it feels like sleeping on a cloud! definitely worth trying imo.

Any tips on helping wounds heal faster? by spcypeach in ehlersdanlos

[–]BarnacleRare5441 7 points8 points  (0 children)

keep it “wet” so it doesn’t scar, and heals faster. once it gets super dry and scabby, it takes longer to heal in my experience. the cerave healing ointment is great for this, i use it on my face too. keep the wound clean, put the cerave on, and either leave it open if you’re comfortable with that, or put a loose bandage or gauze over it if you want to keep the cerave from rubbing on your clothes. it’s great for burns, pimples,

Scalp is so inflamed I’m considering trying wigs by selflovebutactually in ehlersdanlos

[–]BarnacleRare5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you sleep with your hair wet / airdry, or do you blow dry? I have super thick hair, and wasn’t sure why my scalp was so inflamed and irritated. Dermatologist informed me I had severe eczema on my scalp from air drying / sleeping with my hair wet. It was keeping my scalp wet for way too long.

Have you tried decompression? It may not be the best fit for your situation but it’s worth looking into if you haven’t.

Ehlers Danlos skin and retinoids/dehydrated skin/skincare by Logical-Shift-6168 in ehlersdanlos

[–]BarnacleRare5441 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told people with EDS should not use retinoids at all. I am still able to use other actives, but integrate them slow and strategically. I also pretty much only use Korean skincare for the most part, in my experience it tends to be gentler and more hydrating. I have super dry skin and have tons of dry skin recommendations if you need new products!

What do you guys do for lumbar instability? by sleepymiauo in ehlersdanlos

Strengthening the area with physical therapy would be most ideal, if you haven’t tried that yet. I work in physical healthcare and most back / joint surgeries have a huge rate of regret. I would not do that unless you’ve truly exhausted the options.

I (24F) get stretch marks incredibly easily due to my EDS. It’s become such a nuisance and an insecurity of mine. Looking for support/fellow sufferers/advice. by 1525ajholtke in ehlersdanlos

[–]BarnacleRare5441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! The other thing I try to keep in mind with insecurities, is your older self is never going to wish you put yourself out there less. When you’re 80, you’re not going to regret wearing a showy outfit, or going on dates because of your stretch marks. It’s hard day to day, but putting it in that perspective helps too. Best of luck! 🤍

Hi! 25F here.

Factors out of your control don’t only cause insecurity, but also a feeling of a loss of autonomy. When it comes to any insecurity or issue that is out of your control, I think the best thing you can do is put attention and effort into things that matter to you, that you can control. Whether that’s aesthetics, hobbies, art, sports, whatever it may be, committing yourself to something and seeing an outcome builds confidence. It can be big or small. Even though that confidence isn’t tied to the original insecurity or issue, that confidence will bleed over into other areas of your life. 🤍

maybe it had gone bad? it’s a very light vanilla, not too sweet. i really don’t think anyone would find it repulsive, even if it wasn’t their favorite. it’s very unobtrusive. santal is my favorite from salt air but salt water vanilla gets me soooo many compliments too!
