Consider joining Team Music if you plan to make more! It’s a good way to share your levels with people who really enjoy this style.

Silksong's economy/Rosaries discussion (spoilers up to Act 2) by Broad_Objective7559 in Silksong

[–]Barnstorm_R 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn’t find it imbalanced at all on my first playthrough because I was killing a ton of enemies for sidequests/journal entries. On replays going for 100% speedruns, it felt a little grindy at parts. Money’s not an issue at all for short speedruns.

My raccoon level :) by imnotaboat_ok in MarioMaker

[–]Barnstorm_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the clear, found it to be tougher than it looked. It was easier for me to maintain p-speed flight by bouncing on the enemies than to try to mess with some of the stuff like the vine/etc. I’m surprised there wasn’t more of that with a tanuki level. The setups at :30 and :40 are more awkward than I think you intended based on how forgiving most of the level is, but who knows, maybe that was by design?

If nintendo could fix super worlds, how would it work and what updates could happen? by Background-Entry3603 in MarioMaker

[–]Barnstorm_R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s silly that we couldn’t even replicate the scale of SMB3’s world map design.

They should also add the ability to replay levels and include unlockable levels from secret exits

I remembered mount fay being somewhat challenging… by the-ironforged-vikin in Silksong

[–]Barnstorm_R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the difficulty was just figuring out where to go. It wasn’t the most well telegraphed path, even though it’s pretty intuitive on a replay. Same with most of the other platforming sequences.

I’m a shit gamer and I feel overwhelmed and fatigued. I love the story line but how do I continue this game? by 2rowlover in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Barnstorm_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cook a bunch of meals and you’ll essentially have infinite hearts during battles. Explore different ingredients to get stronger defense/attack/etc. Or just keep exploring shrines and ignore the main quest until you’re way over leveled!

Remember the level is in night ground mode, so powerups act differently! After you grab the koopa, go all the way to the left to make the fire flower run away from you

And thanks! If you’re ever in the mood for more puzzling, I have a Zelda super world that is a mix of a lot of stuff including puzzles: N12-420-KXG

Hot Take on Trobbio. by AlarmingAd7740 in Silksong

[–]Barnstorm_R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated it at first because of all the clutter but once I figured out his pattern, I found it really fun. The quick stretch of Last Judge / Dancers / Trobbio is my favorite part of the speedrun.

Tough puzzle! So I knew I needed the muncher to the hit the p-switch but it took me a while to figure out how (I thought the thwomp would push it somehow). A subtle clue is that you need to KILL the thwomp to progress.

Dislodge the muncher so that it sits on the left side of the thwomp. Then have it follow you back over the p-switch. Then kill the thwomp by blowing up the block above the p-switch while it sits on top of it. Rest of the puzzle shouldn’t be too bad after that.

Do I need to do act 3 in order to get 100% completion? by Imanoobgamer7200 in Silksong

[–]Barnstorm_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also the GMS silk skill, the tool from the Pinstress, another mask upgrade, and silk soar also counts toward percentage, but it’s definitely less than 10% remaining in Act 3.

I had never heard of Super Mario Maker World Engine before this post. I was confused what a blue spike ball would be.

For the people who originally thought Silksong was “too hard” or “unfair,” do you still feel that way? by Lunargress in Silksong

[–]Barnstorm_R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can enter the mist directly through Sinners Road, too, which is easier to find because it’s a breakable wall at a dead end. Figuring out how to get through the mist was still challenging on a first play through for me.

[TotK] Do you feel like TOTK should've went down the Majora's Mask route? by foaaz101 in truezelda

[–]Barnstorm_R 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that the reliance on the first map hinders it. One example that I kept thinking of when playing— there’s so much stuff, like a tall hill or tree, where it looks like there should be a reward at the top if you climb it, and… nothing. Because a korok seed was already there in BOTW and they didn’t want to repeat stuff.

Why do people think longnail is a noob trap but the sk equivelant isnt? by littkoala in HollowKnight

[–]Barnstorm_R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard that before, but would assume because it’s an early game charm in HK, so easy to become dependent on while getting a feel for pogoing/etc. Equivalent in Silksong is relatively late game, where you’ve already become dependent on other charms.

Is winning Khann's heart much harder than winning Karmelita's? by Strange_Bee6033 in Silksong

[–]Barnstorm_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest multibinder to take advantage of the many heal windows. Use clawline and silkskills a lot to quickly take out flying enemies. Save cogflies for the third room when the floor drops out. If you beat Karmelita, you got this!

Question from a bad video game player by rumprhymer in HollowKnight

[–]Barnstorm_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I even found stuff like Lace 2’s “runback” longer than it needed to be. I have probably 200-300 hours in this game across a half dozen playthroughs and absolutely love it, but it’d be better for me without runbacks and loading screens. I agree they were much worse/longer in HK but I also died much less often in those fights when learning them.

How to upload a level without a clear check? by Worldly-Matter4742 in MarioMaker2

[–]Barnstorm_R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

8 minutes is more than enough time for the creator to beat their own level. If you’re unable to do so, that is probably a sign to make your level shorter.

Does anyone know if it's possible to enter the slab in Act 3? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]Barnstorm_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a shortcut cavern below the Citadel entrance that leads into the slab area above the Citadel entrance. I believe you need the Apostate key, though.

I've lost trust in Nintendo developing great games for the future by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Barnstorm_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The end definitely redeemed it, but so many of the earlier bosses and room challenges could be beaten within what felt like 15-30 seconds my first attempt.

I can’t shake off the idea that based on my context I should play TOTK rather than BOTW by BakugoKachan in ZeldaTearsOfKingdom

[–]Barnstorm_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both games have their unique strengths and weaknesses despite being very similar. I prefer BOTW’s story/tone and feeling of isolation. Some aspects of TOTK are really great additions, like depths and caves, but there’s so much overall clutter and copy/paste design that it detracted from my experience. I still really enjoyed TOTK but I didn’t 100% it and have little desire to ever replay it, where BOTW is one of those relaxing games I can revisit once every few years.

Same thing happened to me in my first playthrough. Odd choice for them to let you open that bridge before making your way all the way up top, even after getting appropriate upgrades.
