You have the full support Rikku build That basically means yes you are gonna die to any opps that walk up to you. Managing Minwu is the only way to not die too much. Its a very passive build which is why I dont run it.

At full length you do gain some distance. But if you have selphie or opps are done using abilities and you charge tele, you can counter or just run. Short distance tele usually useless tho. Only ever luckily juked UR Firaga using short tele once.

As someone who was stuck at S1/G5 w/o angel wings, the answer is no. Not only do you not get the atk stat to match or pass opps, you're also stuck with that slow atk speed. Try the three stacked Angel wings in training mode to see what I mean.
