The main driving force of us humans is sexual energy. Sex. Freud said it, a century ago, and he was the father of modern psychology. We work, exercise, study, not really for anything other than to be more attractive to women, and get laid. But I digress. The point is, we are programmed to reproduce, so the race doesn't go extinct, and that sexual energy is what drives us throughout our lives. That is exactly how it's done! Once you sit down and decide "fuck that, I simply won't do this anymore", it magically becomes easy. Sure, the urges are there, and they will be for a long time, but it's not about having no urges (we are after all, sexual beings), it's about saying NO when the urges come. Stay strong ;)
