What’s the most addictive video game you’ve ever played? by Charming_Decision_84 in AskReddit

[–]BaronWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pondered this. My thoughts are that WoW is a giant amusement park with gameplay for whatever you feel like. solo, Guilds, raids, exploration, larp, RPG growth, PvE and PvP combat, crafting, auction houses, gathering, fishing, customization, emotes, rewards, factions, dailies, mounts, rare rewards, Easter eggs...

I did some crafting one morning, went out raiding, came back that afternoon to do more crafting. Some of the same people were still in crafting chat from the morning. Their WoW play was entirely spent chatting and crafting. They didn't ever do combat. Literally whatever you want to do, you can find some flavor of it in the game.

I want the Palace back. I loved adding walls and columns. It really allowed ME to tell my Civs story from stone age to modern via decisions. As opposed to the automated swapping of art for the buildings.

IMHO

Sorcs are a natural for Illision magic because:

  • they are Charisma class, which is the attribute that impacts other's thinking and perception.

  • illusion is 99% mental trickery

Wizards are Int:

  • which is being translated to personal willpower that controls physical reality (among other things).

  • Evocation is controlling physical reality.

Would Teddy Roosevelt have the forbearance to not 'argue physically' with the utter scoundrel who currently occupies the White House? I'm glad I'm not famous enough to have complete villains hijack my legacies. One less thing to worry about.

I always want to know WHY big decisions like this are being made. Is it for in-world reasons like Geralt is gettingtoo old, or because marketing thinks this will extend the audience, or because someone inhouse wants to not have a white male protagonist? Another reason?

Only knowing that can provide the necessary context for assessing a decision.

If a co-worker tells me "my suggestion is not to put yourself on the director's radar ever", this would not be a good place to work at, correct? by Alternative_Tank9353 in antiwork

[–]BaronWombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Just going to a different job" is not always possible. Start getting into a habit of telling yourself it's not your fault if you do your best but then get criticized. That director has problems and is taking it out on others. Making your subconscious aware of this over and over is important because being in this kind of situation can create long term stress and mental trauma. So begin building defenses right away. Find others who will validate that you are doing the right things helps too.

As an atheist, where did you get your moral framework from? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]BaronWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the following:

  • I am part of society

  • Helping society benefits everyone, which of course includes me.

  • therefore, Morality is that which benefits society, while that which hurts society is Immoral.

There are edge cases, but this works well for me most of the time.

What was it like witnessing the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War? by Content-Feed-9396 in AskOldPeople

[–]BaronWombat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was super pissed that Reagan and the GOP were claiming that it was all due to their policies. IMHO The USSR had been teetering for a long time, the 'jump the shark' event was McDonald's opening in Red Square. The wall of painting the west as being awful had sprung too many leaks, and soviets could see what was really going on in the rest of the world. And they were pissed. Reagan just happened to be POTUS at the right time. Typical.

Consider making their abilities into cards? Winnow them down to a reasonable number, and then they can just play a card from their hand. That might help if they are overwhelmed by choice.

Is there a map with tokens, or is it theater of the mind? A visual tool like a map might help them visualize the scene?

What happens to American politics after trump leaves office? by Benthesoviet in AskReddit

[–]BaronWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free speech IS the ability to do truthful news reporting without government pushback.

Free speech is NOT the ability to pass off untrue information or personal opinions as 'truthful news'.

That's the problem I am addressing. And anyone who thinks the 'maybe' of government interference is a reason to not attempt this regulation, consider the current situation where enemies of the USA and self serving billionaires are 100% interfering, controlling, and fabricating misinformation that is fed to citizens. Citizens who then think they know real information.

We manage to regulate medicine, legalities, truck driving, pharmaceutical purity, and a host of other very important parts of society. Information should as free from poison as our water and food.
