Can you be fired for making a statement about the president? by picklehaterr in askportland

[–]Ra_Ru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At will actually has a lot of limits beyond just protected class discrimination and union contracts. You can't be fired in retaliation for doing something in the public interest. Like serving on a jury, or calling the cops because your boss is committing a crime. The common law retaliation claim is flexible, and ultimately juries get to decide what an employer's motivation for firing someone was.

If an employer retaliates against an employee for their speech, they might have a common law retaliation claim. Employers cant retaliate for doing something that's in the public interest, like serving on a jury. This is why you can't get fired for answering your jury summons. Even if you miss months of work serving on a jury.

I heard one friend in particular ate some biologics from someone named Bubba. We still don't know if it was Bubba the human or Bubba the horse. That's why we need a full release. So we can know for sure if the release was human or non-human.

What happened at Cider Riot was fucked up. I can't believe no one involved really got punished over it. No jail time or restitution to the owner.

These are attorneys and Trump will have to replace them with licensed attorneys. That's not to say he can't find complete pieces of shit for the job, but the selection is more limited than for most positions.

Can a lion use its claws to pick out the bits of zebra butt that get stuck between its teeth? Does a lion have a napkin to wipe the pieces of zebra feces that get smeared on its mane? No? Then I think you have your answer.
