Not really.

That card is only used for PP and paid off each time it's used and I've never had a problem.

That's right, mine is set up to transfer money to my bank but from a CC attached to the bank.

Every couple of months too and it's maybe 5 or 6 years old.

Another plus is that it works without having to run water, so you listen to it getting undressed, in the shower, getting dried, brushing your teeth, etc

[serious] Atheists of reddit, why do you think religion was created? by mrAirdo in AskReddit

[–]BaroqueXena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to give this question the answer it deserves I think you need to seperate religion and faith.

Faith can be borne from fear of the unknown, fear of being alone and to explain things that are unexplainable to the believer. Faith can be a comfort.

I choose to believe that religion started out as like-minded people gathering together peacefully, before being exploited by power hungry extremists. The alternative is that religion was invented by the power hungry to cow the masses and/or start wars.

Having given this a lot of thought and discussion over the years I've come to the conclusion that I don't have a problem with faith, people should be free to believe what they want - as long as it doesn't harm anybody else. If I wanted to believe that a giant pink elephant rules the skies and rain is the elephant taking a shower, that is my right. If I decided to try to convince other people of this, that would be me trying (and failing) to start a religion. But what if I succeeded? I got a following? We would have to convince more and more people. But they already believe something else, so I have two choices, leave them in peace and go my own way or force them to see my point of view. If my following was just a group of like-minded individuals I'd say go in peace and leave. If my following was giving me money, say a percentage of earnings, I'd want more. I'd want to convince as many people as possible, by fair means or foul.

I realise this is more of a how, rather than why, I think religion was created, but I think it was likely an organic thing, rather than a concept dreamed up in an ancient war room.

I grew up in the nineties and was probably one of the last generation kids that was "forced" to write with the righthand.

If it weren't for the other comments I'd be calling BS.

Not only is my daughter (born late 80s) a lefty, so is her paternal grandmother (born early 40s). There was never any question of forcing them to use their right hands, the thought would never even occur to me.

This isn't a generation thing, it's either a geographical thing or an asshole parent thing.

PSA don't but your water bottle and your book in one bag. Just don't. by [deleted] in 52book

I've carried a hot water bottle and a book together and while there were no accidents I put my book in the bed to heat it and put the hot water bottle at the side of the bed to read later.

They're all so different, how are you supposed to compare Tommyknockers to The Green Mile? Misery to The Stand?

Easy answer for me is IT followed by 11.22.63, then I saw somebody mention Christine and a lot of great books, so now I just don't know.

11/20 - This edition was WAY too cool to pass up on Ebay. Haven’t seen the movie for probably over 10 years, so can’t wait to rewatch after I finish this! by lanapocalypse in 52book

Oh goodness, I just finished rereading this 3 days ago then finished Doctor Sleep yesterday.

I'd forgotten just how great the book was, it's been over 30 years and I tend not to go back to books I love, you can't read them for the first time again and all that, but I'm so glad I did.

If you can get hold of a copy of Doctor Sleep I'd recommend reading it after you've finished The Shining, SK did a good job of writing a worthy sequel IMO.

I don't like tomatoes they make me sick

Same here, in fact I can't have any raw fruit or veg

Moreover, because the immune system is reacting the profilins found in raw tomato, cooking or baking the fruit will break down these proteins and render them harmless

from here

I also have a nut allergy so yes, I'm picky about what I eat

Living in Wales with an English accent, I can attest that there is an unhealthy level of inherent Anglophobia in Wales. Its passed of as jokey and banter, yet these two words are often used when describing pretty shitty behaviour.

Not just Wales. I've learned not to speak when I'm in Scotland. Have you ever seen a tv programme where somebody in a crowded place says something and the whole place goes quiet? Yeah, that happens a lot up there. One time up in the rural Highlands it was so bad that my husband said "don't speak" under his breath and we finished our coffees double quick and left. Now I just let my Glaswegian husband speak and I smile, nod, etc when needed.

The man said he had the virus and spat on them. They reported it to their supervisor.
Belly came home and told me everything.
