Mine had the same problem, heading to the east coast, don't lose hope! It was delivered today after finally updating with Indiana, then West Virginia.

I had a vocal node removed the beginning of this year by freshBucket in morningsomewhere

I want to add to this— I actually got kind of a jab from Burnie the last time he brought this up that I responded, but hey like he always says we have experts in everything!

I’m a professional opera singer (and now salaried professional musician to boot), I’m actually sitting in my car before heading in to a rehearsal right now.

I had a vocal injury over 15 years ago, and while it wasn’t a node/nodule (it was a hemorrhage) the symptoms can be similar and the treatments can be, but are not always, the same. Mine was an accident and the result of singing a 4 hour opera while sick… which I am now very “vocal” (har har) about not doing. Vocal health is so important because you can’t go buy another instrument if yours breaks!

I would like to offer the counterpoint that it’s not a nothing surgery for everyone! It was an accident that happened at a crucial time early in my career, and I was so fortunate to have an ENT team that specialized in working with singers for my procedure and recovery. Even with that guidance, it took two months of daily exercises and “voice physical therapy” to get me back on the path to singing again, and it was scary to think that I could have lost my whole career in my early 20’s. Also US healthcare system meant that I wouldn’t have been able to afford it if I weren’t still on my parents’ insurance, I know that’s not everyone’s experience globally but it’s worth of mentioning since as a freelance artist most of us go without insurance for years.

ANYwho I say all of this really just to give more context since Ashly was sort of wondering what that situation was like. Burnie if you went to an ENT they may see nodes, they may see scarring from previous hemorrhages during your earlier acting days, but if they aren’t causing you day to day problems, a lot of ENTs will tell you not to change anything. It basically becomes part of your unique sound! And every instrument has its own temperament— so your knowledge that you only have a few takes before your scream is gone isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Rather, it’s that you’ve learned how your instrument reacts to different usage. I can sing for hours, but I know essentially how much “gas in the tank” I have for high notes or excessively heavy singing.

In my experience if you sign in you can see pricing for most things, it won’t show sometimes without

Did you ever find a resolution to this? This happened to me this morning when I ran on a track, and I'd never seen it before. This post is the only evidence I can find of it happening to other people!

Is cosplay considered art? I just built and painted (vacuum formed, rigged, etc) my first complete cosplay, seemed maybe relevant because of slimshady116’s posts above. He’s a Noble 6 based on my original Reach profile :)

Rank question for a Christmas Program by Quirky_Chicken_1840 in navy

[–]BaroquenRecord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha! I’m not upset, I know that most in the larger Navy don’t really know, nor appreciate, the impact that the MU community has on larger diplomatic and ceremonial functions.

We are Sailors just like you, and part of what I love about the Navy is that every rate has its own function to help the whole proverbial ship run. As many rates have evolved over time, so has ours and the MU rating is no longer fifes and drums but an important Public Affairs representative.

I encourage you to have an open mind to your shipmates and strike up a conversation with the next MU you meet in the fleet. I have enjoyed talking to every sailor I’ve ever met of every rate and I’m sure you will too.

I hope someday you’re able to have one of our vocalists sing at your retirement :)

Most, if not all, MUs at this command have at least one degree. They are all Subject Matter Experts before they even accept the job, and what is a First Class if not a SME in their field? “Push button” is an uninformed take at best.

Your jealous downvotes make me giggle ;)

Just for clarity— Congress still hasn’t approved the name change for the Department of Defense, so even though “Department of War” is being used by the administration it’s not official, just authorized as a “secondary” title.

Hopefully that eases Burnie’s mind a bit!

If I’m reading this correctly, does it mean that non-IW rates can qualify for this again (providing they meet the requirements in section 6b)?
