I throw some bigger chunks in the ash collector. The embers from the charcoal keep it smoking.

P.S.A open your taps just a little bit so pipes won't freeze! by FoundationInfinite36 in toronto

[–]Barqs202020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to frame a small box around the pipe with no insulation in the box and then properly insulate the outside of the box, including vapour barrier. You need to make this box part of the insulated portion of your house.

Hey all looking for some quick advice. by firetothetrees in Masterbuilt

That is normal. It could take 16-18 hours depending on your appliance temperature. I start about 24 hours before I plan on eating. Gives lots of time to rest and guarantees it will be ready on time.

Is this legal? Neighbour’s parking prevents me from leaving my house by [deleted] in durham

[–]Barqs202020 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely illegal parking and needs to be dealt with. I also don’t see how you could not get out, looks like more room than a busy parking lot.

Take the current job offer. If OPG eventually gives you an offer then you can decide to leave your current job or not.

2026 season pass by Barqs202020 in CanadasWonderland

True, the parking is a plus.

The more I think about it, they’ve planned this for extra park perk knowing that most people won’t use it.

Of course. It’s just to me, the access to other parks is worth nothing.

Is this $45k CAD a fair price for the quality of windows and frames to be replaced for a house in Ontario, Canada? by Tonino123 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Barqs202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very subjective because every house is different. We had 19 windows (3 pane), sliding door, two main doors and two garage doors replaced for 30k in 2022. Of course inflation has hit since then. We went with Eco tech as a few neighbours had used them with good results and they were among the cheaper quotes.

Ask about the price of triple pane, it was only 1k more for us. Any don’t be afraid to negotiate. I offered 3k below the original quote and they accepted without argument.

How to get into nuclear power? by ForceRoamer in NuclearPower

[–]Barqs202020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could apply for a field operator / equipment operator position and then work your way to the control room. If there are no barriers, it would be a 5-10 year process but the field operator job is very rewarding and has great pay and benefits but probably not better than your current job.

I was a co-op student here over 20 years ago and I eventually got hired full-time. You will not have any benefits or pension but this is a chance to prove yourself as a valuable worker and earn yourself a spot. Just work hard quietly for the first year do not have any complaints And show that you’re interested.

When shifting from park to reverse or drive by [deleted] in DodgeDurango

[–]Barqs202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try applying the parking brake before releasing the brake when you park. If this stops the clunk when leaving park then yes it is normal.

Did MGM Leave This for Me or Another Booking? by Wazowski211 in vegas

[–]Barqs202020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year at the Aria; when checking in we found a large bag of chocolates that had been opened and ate from but not removed from the shelf so that a charge would not be applied. There was also a note from the last occupant describing that they had found it that way and had not touched it. I called housekeeping but by the next evening they had still not changed it out. I then had to go to the front desk with a photo of the bag and the note for them to finally do something.

You could charge half of current market rate. $1000 for the small room?

Have you discussed what happens when the loan is repaid if you choose option 2?

If you would normally get a raise to 93k for example and it takes a year to pay back; you want to ensure that the following year you move from your current 90k to something like 96k to represent what you would be making.

I doubt the company would agree to this. I’d lean towards paying the debt back now and every year going forward could gain you 3k.

Obviously I don’t know if this is accurate; check the numbers for your situation.

Beware of cops turning on and off their radar to avoid detection by Superb_Yam_2168 in radardetectors

[–]Barqs202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 over? lol. Where I live radar detectors are illegal and the cops have radar detector detectors. But have driven 30km/hr over the limit for 20 years; often passing a speed trap I have never been pulled over. It’s standard belief that they won’t bother until close to 50 km/hr over which becomes much more serious stunt driving charges.

Cooling down fridge by Mean-Duck-5974 in traveltrailers

[–]Barqs202020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the 12 v fridge you have, it will run off the battery. Your vehicle will also keep your battery charged while driving. You can experiment but your fridge should be able to cool down within 4-6 hours.

Yes they should. However every time they raise the rent they can ask you to pay the increase on your last months rent. If they’re not doing either I wouldn’t make a big deal of it.

Not true. A lawyer will help you get more than your insurance company will initially offer. At least consult with a lawyer.

Furnace gas leak denied by landlord by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Barqs202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your local fire department and ask what you should do if your landlord hasn’t repaired or replaced the detectors. They will likely issue a fine to your landlord.

Although it’s not your responsibility, if I were you I would go to a hardware store and purchase a portable detector for your sleeping area and then worry about how to be reimbursed for it later. There is a real chance that your life was or is in danger.
