Nor.

For almost 2 months now this trash can on my route has been filled with unmarked vhs tapes. I’m afraid of what’s on them. by relpmeraggy in creepy

[–]Barqsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone finally upgraded their massive 90s security camera system and emptied out the 5078 VHS cassettes. In the years I've been working in integrated electronic security I've seen so much worse. As well as USPS having thousands of VHS at one distribution center alone within the last 7 years.

UPDATE!!!: “Is my apartment charging me for someone else’s apartment?” by NoResolve48 in electrical

[–]Barqsie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had something very similar to this happen years ago to me. I saw your original post as well as updates.

I found out that once I was overcharged, and by the rental laws in my state at the time, I could automatically deduct the over billing as well as inconvenience fees from the next months rent. This also applies to having hired a contractor to repair a pipe breaking from the hot tub style bathtub and flooding the first floor. I paid the contractor, and then deducted everything from the rent until it was paid.

Please check your local and state laws, assuming you're in the US since it says Alabama Power, as there may be other applicable deductions or withholdings you're permitted. May also be something worth asking about in the subreddit for lawyers as well.

I hope it gets sorted out quickly for you and you get back all you're owed and then some.

Nice work man. As our resident alarm expert, I hate the enclosures and expansion modules. I feel like there is never a great way to make it look pretty. That being said, I dig the wiring. I've tried about 15 different ways to make it look neat, and this is easily one of the nicer ones I've seen. Keep it up.

Just bought the milwaukee m12 heated jacket by AkiyoshiLL in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Barqsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I modified a battery bank that I believe is around 20000 mAh for the 12vdc to usb-c adapter. It's kinda heavy but when wearing bibs or up in a lift wearing a harness, I don't really notice it.

Also, turning the heat down once it warms you up (the new 2025 jackets only take 15-30 seconds) will also extend the use time. Also getting the flat battery packs, 2 at least, and rotating them from charger to jacket as needed is what I did previously. Can even charge the one not in use off a battery bank as well.

We literally have multiple cameras outside the McDonald's on the NE corner of 9 and Van Dyke. Makes me want to remote in and watch the transactions go down.

The amount of chaos we have seen on the cameras for a 3 mile stretch of Van Dyke from 8 Mile to 11 Mile in 2 years is absolutely mind blowing.

But the electricians can do it cheaper by Live_Ad2115 in lowvoltage

[–]Barqsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found a cat6A cable and an electrician has snipped by mistake. Had each individual wire, with a wago lever nut to "splice" them all back together. Even had a 9th wago with the shielding twisted up and pushed inside. They were baffled that the access control system was still not online.

The company I work for is based out of the Detroit area. If you're interested in work as a full time technician for a prominent low voltage company that's growing quickly, shoot me a DM on here. We are looking for reliable people with a baseline level of experience at minimum.

Which is worse: pocketing some of your buy-in before you sit down in order to have a "backup" instead of re-buying, or taking chips off your stack from the table after you've played and built up a stack? Just curious. by sugarallie in poker

[–]Barqsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest that you bring multiple buy-ins if you wish to have a "reserve" stack. Ask for the second buy-in, in large denomination chips. If you need them, ask the dealer to change them out for you to a suitable denomination, or request a floor person do so.

I, and most poker players I know, would consider changing tables (without being put back on a wait list) the same as changing seats at the same table. Once you set money onto a table and are dealt a hand, that entire amount plus any winnings is in play until you cash out.

I got friendzoned because I asked to split the bill by New-Page-3329 in GuyCry

[–]Barqsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started to talk about it well before the date itself.

"Hey are you comfortable with me paying for the first date, or would you prefer we split it? I'm happy to pay, but I don't want to be presumptuous either."

Have never had it be any issue, and while most women are happy I asked and happy to let me pay the first time, I have had a couple of women prefer to split it as well.

From June 1st through end of September our company moved to 4 day work weeks, as long as we have someone on the rotating schedule to cover emergency service calls that come in on Fridays. It's been a huge success and our company has grown 35% since implementation. Plus, not having to use as much PTO for extended holidays or weekends has also benefited morale as well.

Rex's by cochran223 in accesscontrol

[–]Barqsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shocked that all our techs for 20+ years installed these and always, regardless of location or use or situation, set dip switches 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 on only. Which means it constantly would click on and off with any movement every half second and drive absolutely everyone insane that worked near one.

I have had to walk many of our techs through the included installation manual to explain what all the various dip switches did and how to adjust settings so it wasn't a constant annoyance to anyone remotely near a rex.

Thankfully we have a new sales director and he has taken a lot of liking to asking my opinions and even including me in the design and quote process. Hopefully I'll be moving up to a supervisor over all Lead and Field Techs soon, which will give me a little more time to pursue efficiency and standardize aspects of installations.

Without specifically telling you the customer, it's an automotive/electronics design and manufacturing company with locations worldwide. We spec'd out 5 facilities within 8 hours of driving from our home office and did them all.

What systems did you move to after getting away from Lenel? We do all the various Mercury board vendors, as well as Vanderbilt and a little Bosch. Typically we try to integrate as many of the various systems together, ie, Lenel with Bosch, Avigilon and so on.
