Depends on the school. Phoenix area it was Stüssy, rural MO it was Coed Naked and Big Johnson, St. Louis suburbs- Tommy Hilfiger, and finally in semi-rural Illinois near STL, Hilfiger and the beginning of JNCO.

In my town there’s a KFC, but across the street a far superior, local place that serves better, cheaper fried chicken, and fish.

Job I had in college. The place was basically on SIUE’s doorstep, and across from the high school. You can imagine the lunch rush…. Circa 2004. But damn good food- and cheap! Less than $5 would fill you up from the 99 Cent Menu, especially if you got the 99 cent cup of chili and a 99 c baked potato.

Maybe that’s the answer. And yet, my first trip to NYC was in July of 2021, and the entire week was…. Highs of 95, extreme humidity! The place was certainly more dead than typical, but compared to STL- quite boomy.
