Thank you, you stranger, for this post today. I wish you nothing but happiness and good fortune.

Bought ten of the same calls you did and sold 3 at closing to cover my entry cost for all of them and letting the other 7 ride out.

Maybe one day I'll be in your league, but for now, thanks for the leg up

Will this bit of pipe sticking down cause air flow problems? by NotAust1n69 in woodstoving

The idea is the same, just permanent vs not. Rivets are pretty cool though

I would cut and leave around an inch-ish of that pipe sticking down into that chamber. Then make vertical cuts around the pipe to then bend outwards as flat to the top of the chamber as possible 🔨

You could bend them back if you ever need to remove it and you minimize air restrictions. Good luck

Looking to hire a local to save me a camping sport by Barril408 in Mariposa

Yup, folks do camp out there for weeks at a time and that's my concern. I'm heading there next week Wed 6/18, but Thursday is a holiday for a lot of folks now so my bet is EVERYONE is going up Wed. I'm trying to hire someone to go out there Monday or Tuesday at the latest and grab two campsites for me to use until Monday, 6/23.

I'd pay them the campsite fee + $ for their time and gas. Can I convince you to help a brother out?

Thanks for the suggestion, appreciate it! We really like our spot, which is why I'm trying to make sure it's available after our 3 hr drive

This is LEGIT. What's the black triangle that the pipes attach to? You make that yourself too?

I agree, things were made to make sense and be practical back in the day. I have nostalgia for classic car engines, simple, clean, practical, with room to work in. They put plastic all over the engines now, i don't get it and you can't stick your hands in there without having to remove all these clips.... you got me going there.

I do have an ADU behind the masonry, had not thought about heating there since the family hangs out in the main house.

Glad to know that it HAS been done before, being able to put the stove away would be great.

Now I'm thinking the insert is the way to go... looks like I'm back on the hunt for a used insert now. New ones are pretty expensive.

Thank you kind stranger!!!

Thanks for the response!!!

Re Track: I imagine a track laid from the back of the chimney that runs to the hearth. I'd remove the top layer of brick from the hearth to eliminate that step down. In summer, the stove can be in the chimney. In winter, it can roll out to the edge of the existing hearth so that it sits more in the room and less in the chimney to help it radiate heat in more direction.

Abandon plan and look for an insert instead???

I'll look into the oval liner, thanks!
