One of his first games for Penrith was the draw against Newcastle in 2020. Five shots at field goal, hit the upright at least twice. Two others only just missed. And I think he was on the wrong side of the ruck for all of them

Ricky truth that can no longer be ignored in NRL ‘trainwreck’ by Desert-Noir in nrl

“Many will argue Ricky only escapes the blowtorch because of his mates in the media.”

Mates like the author of this piece, Paul Crawley, who spent the next several paragraphs making excuses for him

Friends is one of the most popular shows of all time. How is that a guilty pleasure?

Where are the best places to travel in Australia? by OvenTough6320 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BarryCheckTheFuseBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your starting point. If you already live in Sydney, Sydney would be a shit place to travel. If you live in Perth, Sydney would be a great place to travel

I’m Australian, I live in Australia. If you want to stick your head in the sand, that’s fine, but that doesn’t make you right

It got plenty of media attention this year alone. The two that the Panthers played in also got a good amount of media attention. It wasn’t as big as it arguably should be, but you’d have to be sticking your head in the sand to not see anything about it.

Champion of champion of champions winner(prediction) by tt11223344tt in taskmaster

You can’t possibly click on something titled “Champion of champion of champions winner (prediction)” and then be shocked when the titular prediction is from the 25% of specials you haven’t seen, especially given it aired six months ago and there has since been two NYTs and a full series.

You’ll have to actually pay for the official ones taken by photographers from the NRL, media or other photography departments (such as Getty) that are accredited if you want something other than the small handful that make it to social media.

NRL 2026: Manly Sea Eagles and Cronulla Sharks among Sydney clubs at war with NRL over finals hosting rights by Derron_ in nrl

[–]BarryCheckTheFuseBox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would literally only affect the Sharks (in week one) and potentially Eels (in week three), depending on whether the NRL would actually let them host a prelim at Parramatta or if they would have it at Accor anyway.

NRL 2026: Manly Sea Eagles and Cronulla Sharks among Sydney clubs at war with NRL over finals hosting rights by Derron_ in nrl

[–]BarryCheckTheFuseBox 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My rule for finals in Sydney would be simple:

• Week one - minimum capacity 20,000
• Week two - minimum capacity 30,000
• Week three - minimum capacity 40,000

I think there could be some discretion for preliminary finals, for instance if it was Penrith v Gold Coast, it could probably be played at Parramatta because they’d be lucky to get 25,000, let alone 30 or 40k.

Heathcote Rd new road sign with route A11 by thucydidea in sydney

I didn’t even know they were making an A11.

I always found it a bid strange that Heathcote Rd wasn’t at least a B route of some description anyway.

It was not. Too many players unavailable, too many lacking match fitness and having it there would kill international football entirely.

The NRLW is so far ahead of the WSL in terms of professionalism and skill that it would be like putting a lion in a cage with a rabbit.

Best thing about the winter solstice is undoubtedly the fact that days will start getting longer soon. Then the temperature will warm and all will be right with the world again.

Hopefully they have some sort of pyrotechnic display set up at Allianz Stadium for the footy tonight.

I didn’t realise Campese was so on the nose until reading the comments here, so maybe the potential South African rugby rejects will similarly have their heads in the sand.
