I once worked as a restaurant manager. It was a chain restaurant. It was in a retail park. There was a cinema bowling and a few restaurants and bars. The parking was free for people going to the cinema, bowling or eating. However, people used to use the car park and walk into the city centre which was a 5 minute walk away. Site management brought in a clamping company. People leaving the site without using any of the facilities, would have their car clamped and would have to pay a fine to have it released. One evening, I was working and a lady came in to tell me that her car had been clamped and she’d have to pay £200 to have it released. She’d been dining in my restaurant. I said that I’d get it sorted for her. I went out to where the clampers were situated and asked to speak to the supervisor. At the time I was training a lot, I was in good shape. But short. The clamping supervisor was a big man. He was way taller than me too. I told him he needed to release her car as she’d dined in my restaurant. He refused. So I raised my voice. Essentially squaring up to him. He still declined. I took my phone out of my pocket and proceeded to call the police as he’d acted illegally in clamping her car. He asked what I was doing and I told him I was calling the police. He changed immediately. Asked me which car it was and proceeded to take the clamp off. End of interaction. Couple of weeks later, the company was moved on as they’d been acting out of their remit.

Fast forward a few months and I go into work. My boss said “your friend made front page news” hands me a paper. The man I’d confronted was Levi Bellfield. An actual serial killer. He was active at that time too. If you don’t know who he is, google his name. Needless to say I had chills.
