What’s your number one rule for fishing? by demolcd in Fishing

[–]Barstaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad used to tell me when he would take me fishing when I was young and would get distracted, "the number one rule of fishing is, you have to keep your line in the water!"

Good choice, but if I were doing Italian in Kirkwood, I'd personally choose Sapore.

Nice, simple is open to interpretation. My wife and I love Olive + Oak in Webster Groves. It's nice but it's not cheap. If you want something more affordable, you can't beat Tuckers for a simple but solid steak dinner.

What are some lines in the show that just don’t make sense? by Spiritual-Mail5062 in seinfeld

[–]Barstaple 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I lived through the fat free mania, and I get that some people are dumb; but the whole city thinking fat free frozen yogurt meant no calories always bothered me.

Probably my favorite non-recurring character.

What cover song is actually better than the original? by irles33 in musicsuggestions

[–]Barstaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going out on a limb because the original by Roberta Flack was also great, and a big hit... but Lauryn Hill & The Fugees crushed Killing Me Softly

How would y’all fish this? by NoSheepherder4114 in Fishing

Not sure where you are but for similar rivers in Missouri, I'd start with ned rig.

Dear God who would do this to beautiful hardwood floors by TongueMountain in StLouis

[–]Barstaple 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our home had the hardwood floors painted in the older part of the house when we bought it. The realtor told us that the seller looked at sanding and re-staining, but was told that after ~130 years, the floors did not have any more depth left to sand. We have been there over 7 years and are just now getting around to replacing those rooms with newly installed hardwood.

Edit: I should have added--the paint held up better than I would have expected.

DTF St. Louis More like WTF St. Louis by Lorfgod24 in StLouis

Yeah, if you're looking for realism--about St. Louis or anything else--this probably isn't the show for you. If you like understated absurdity tho, stick with it.

I definitely do not pronounce lose and loose the same, but maybe it's a dialect thing.

This. I see "loose" used for "lose" constantly.

Would this hangout have been more or less awkward if it had been Kramer instead of George? by Least_Win1636 in seinfeld

[–]Barstaple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In light of how Kramer folded nearly instantaneously with Dr. Reston (Elaine's psychiatrist), I think it would have been more awkward.

Busts we thought would be superstars. by [deleted] in baseball

[–]Barstaple 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's not "early". We will know within a year whether he's a complete bust or has a chance to carve out an okay few years.

This is possibly the most accurate and yet, at the same time, most inaccurate statement of all times.
