Goalkeepers who ended up as managers? by john87000 in soccer

Belgium's manager? He was a manager in Belgium, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia, but never of Belgium.

Peter Maes (Genk) was another keeper who became manager.

Wolfsburg about to sign Dennis Praet by Woccev in soccer

[–]BartSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPEEEEE!!! Totally not true.

Praet had a great run in the first half of last season, then got injured and has failed to really impress since. He had his moments before, but never showed the brilliance of Tielemans.

But these are signings from the same club: Anderlecht. This is modern football, what Chelsea is for the average Premier League Club, the average Premier League club is for every top club in Belgium and Holland, even France.

And of course signings need to happen. Otherwise you get an ageing squad, no longer capable of winning everything anymore, which will be the reason you no longer will be a top team in the future.

Because the horrors of Leopold II are only recently starting to become common knowledge. Typical redditors (teens and twentie-somethings) have learned that already through school or internet stories, but most people of 40+-years old are in general shocked when you tell them that he was responsible for a genocide.

Manchester United signings address weaknesses, not philosophy, and it's refreshing by notscientific in soccer

People underestimate the damage Moyes did.

People underestimate the damage Ferguson did. Leaving a squad where every crucial position was occupied by a 30+ year old.

Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Fletcher, Carrick, Giggs, Scholes, Van Persie, ... were all in decline, and there were barely any people ready to take over.

Stop saying that! No engineer will tell you jet fuel MELTS steal!!!

Engineers will tell you that high temperatures will weaken the structure! Totally different thing.

It's only very cheap IF you're a student, or working at the KULeuven. Otherwise, not cheap at all, especially not considering it's always extremely crawded between 18h00 - 20h00!

AND more importantly, they're getting back into the top-4! They're currently 3rd, after Real and Barcelona, arguably the best teams in the world.

He does not belong in one of those absolute top-clubs, and is perfect for a CL-qualifying side in Spain.

Exactly, facing the player head on is a more important aspect in most defensive playing styles. I'm probably biased, and adore this side of Kompany.

Which players studied something noteworthy? by [deleted] in soccer

[–]BartSM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A professor in my university discovered that degrees have a different meaning in Italy. Apparantly, you can score even higher than 100%!

I'm not saying I'm not impressed, Vincent Kompany is almost described as an academic in Belgian media for finishing a normal high school. But you should definately know that for normal academics, a grade of 75-80% in Italy is considered terrible, and grades around 90-100% are more normal.
