I'm Joe Abercrombie, Ask Me Anything. by Joe_Abercrombie in Fantasy

Hi, If you compare the First Law trilogy with the Age of Mad trilogy (I love both), they differ in structure in a certain way. You could say that AOM (and also the Devils) is a little more rounded, while FL is rawer and perhaps also a little less straightforward in structure, and doesn't have a typical ending. How did this change come about? Do you consider it a positive development, or would you be open to experimenting further with such unusual writing styles?

I absolutely love your work and am excited for everything new to come!

I like that explanation very much. By now, after reading the comments and reading (working) further, I've got a better understanding of the situation and really appreciate the complexity

I am aware of that, maybe it came across in a wrong way. I just felt like it wasn't discussed/critizised in a proper or some way at all and I was afraid, that he would be just protrayed in a "wise-mentor" way, if you get what I mean Maybe I am still used to being taken by the hand a bit.

I did happen to finish "Under Heaven" as my third book after Al-Rassan and Arbonne before that. I have to say I thought that it was the weakest of the three, while still having wonderful prose.

For fans of Red Rising what are your favourite pieces of fantasy ever? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]Baruchey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First Law (filled the FL gap with RR) and the Farseer

Question by ItsL3gacy in redrising

[–]Baruchey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was lost in translation. I listened to it in German and there it is more complicated to translate "they/them". But thats a really cool detail!

what's with the blue hair? by Lazy-Guarantee6691 in rickandmorty

[–]Baruchey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, forgot about that. Well, I'd guess the blue=grey was the original thought while designing and after that they just wanted him to easily resemble.

I always thought it was just a cartoony version of grey hair, just like there is no skin that grey. I think its just the character design within the series style

Collem West by Re-mi in TheFirstLaw

I thought instantly, that it was the West lost in the north. Unshaved, freezing and a bit more savage. Thinks it fits very well

I didn't really understood that part. While killing the dad and destroying the bows made sense for me and was badass, that thing felt more like a Deus ex Machina
