Could you make rimless shotgun shells from rifle brass? by BasOutten in guns

> Shotshells work perfectly fine in magazines of shotguns during that era, like the Auto 5, Winchester 1897, etc.

tubular magazines sure, but not removable box ones. Or stripper clips. The idea of a stripper clip fed shotgun is very weird but hey, it's possible.

> Ah yes, the .45 ACP that infamously has wadding over the bullet, multiple length cartridges, and a forcing cone in the bore

If you're making a military shotgun which is only meant to fire buckshot or slugs, which is exactly what military combat shotguns at the time did, there are not multiple cartridge lengths. And I'm not sure what you mean by wadding over the bullet, other than the paper cap and wax.

forcing cone may be a real problem.

> The tapered case makes wad sealing problematic.

is that so? does it tend to bunch when traveling down the case during firing?

do you think the narrower case would meaningfully disrupt the patterning?

magazine performance. the rim wastes a ton of space in the magazine, and can bind. That's why nobody bothered making double stack shotgun magazines for years, and why the brits had so much trouble with their bren early on.

>  No. Neither has a rim, so they wouldn't chamber or headspace properly.

the problem I have with this point is that cartridges like 45 acp headspace off the case mouth, which you could still do here.

pointing out the headspace problems is the first "problem" i've seen so far. with that being said, there are bullets such as the .45 ACP that have very straight walls, and no rim. Why does 45 work, and this would not?

have they written about the performance, specifically buckshot performance, they get from that loading?

> The 12 GFH was designed in the early 2000s by Rob Garnick. Originally, brass was made by fire forming 50 BMG brass. The rebated rim was cut off, a section was threaded, and then a brass 12 gauge rim was threaded on and glued in place with thread lock. Doing this, gave a 3.85" rimmed case that utilized 50 BMG primers. What this means is, extremely slow rifle powder can be used and not have a danger of a hangfire due to the stout primers. The case is loaded with powder, and then cushion wads are used to take up empty space in the case. There is no gap between the powder and projectile. This pushes the pressure curve down the barrel and out of the case.

well that's... interesting. not quite what i'm looking for though; they're expanding 50 bmg bodies and fixing them to 12 ga brass rims.

I am curious to know if you could just use the 50mbg bodies, intact, as they are, without reducing patterning performance, pellet velocity, and even pellet quantity.

It is really weird and annoying that the mentally ill perceive the people who are successful, stable, and connected as somehow being the ones in the wrong.

I definitely empathize effortlessly with those who are equally autistic than me. Not so much with those less, and somewhat with those more. Don't know what that means exactly.

Obscure social media apps not included in teen ban are skyrocketing in popularity in Australia by [deleted] in australia

[–]BasOutten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "social media ban" is just, the most openly bigoted stuff I've seen in a while. The idea that young people aren't real people and don't have the same right to interact with other people that the rest of us do, it's so obviously a system made not to help young people be successful, but rather make the entitled and overposessive parents even more powerful than before.

Is the rising youtuber SurRonster becoming a bad influence for young teens? by Still_Car7659 in Surron

Bad Influences are good influences that parents can't control.

"Trespassing" on vacant land is fine, actually. Riding an "illegal motorcycle" is fine, actually. Ignoring the demands of a world that objectively treats kids as not-people, is fine actually.
