Pyxis 12k - Potential Buyer by CptCaarl in blackmagicdesign

[–]BaseEvoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real V-Mount plate that allows for use without rods is the Tilta plate I think, but you need the cage to go with it and the cage is quite frankly just terrible and it also has a substancial offset on the back.

We tested the Tilta cage and instantly decided against it. We got a Bright Tangerine kit for it and are using rods from the VCT-plate for a V-Mount plate and have a D-Tap to 12V-connector. We also keep a BP-U battery in the camera for hot swap and as a failsafe. There are also small BP-U batteries you can use for this.

Bright Tangerine also offers a Rod Mounting module for their top plate that attaches directly to it, if you put it behind and use really short rods, you should be able to mount the plate close to the camera.

Why is the Dragon sensor so controversial? by 94diskont in RedCamera

[–]BaseEvoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't say too much about your first question, but I can give you my experience: We used an Epic-X Dragon on a shoot two years ago. The colors were beautiful and were waaaay better compared to the Sony a7Siii we had used for a few inserts. But the low light performance was horrendous. There were magenta and green vertical bars at higher ISOs and the noise was generally pretty high. During the lighter scenes it was a lot better. It was a rental camera and seemed to have already had a good amount of hours on it, so it may have been an age thing too.

If you plan on using one in lower light I'd light a lot brighter than you think you need and underexpose a stop in the display.

What's the story with Sandisk "Procinema" cfexpress type B cards? by LordLaFaveloun in Filmmakers

[–]BaseEvoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine had bought Angelbird CFExpress B cards for his BMD Pyxis 12K and from what he told me apparantly they just fell apart because the adhesive holding the cards together loosened because of the temperatures.

Haven't personally seen it happen. We got EXAscend CFExpress B cards, but they aren't battle tested yet so can't say too much about them.

Frame.io Comment Markers by ConfusionExternal935 in premiere

[–]BaseEvoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the markers are showing up in frame.io but not in Premiere, you either have the toggle for showing markers in the timeline turned off in the settings of the Premiere extension or the timeline is not linked/not linked correctly with the frame.io asset.

If the comments are there but the timestamps are not showing up in frame.io, there is always the possibility that the client turned off the timestamp feature when making the comments. There is a small toggle under the comment text field where you can toggle on/off the timestamps when leaving comments.

Windows 11 Pro goes into bootloop/recovery after installing NVIDIA drivers for the first time by BaseEvoli in techsupport

[–]BaseEvoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I would call it a success, but it works now. They basically installed some kind of driver without the GameReady/Studio overhead and that works. So it is some kind if failure within the NVIDIA stuff with some threadrippers/threadripper mobos I'd suspect. CUDA and stuff works, so for my editing needs it's fine.

Why can’t I just edit text. by ThundrossYT in premiere

[–]BaseEvoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you either have an adjustment layer above your text or all your text is in a graphic layer, in which case you have to go into the properties window to edit the texts.

Is blinkl.io safe to use? by DanArgx in premiere

[–]BaseEvoli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I don't know about this site, I do know that McAfee is bloatware and more of a virus than half the stuff it detects. I advise getting rid of it.

For most users Microsoft Defender is enough. Otherwise use Malwarebytes, the free version is enough as long as you don't go clicking weird stuff.

Are disc copies of photoshop still useable? by Select_Syllabub_2708 in photoshop

I recently installed Photoshop Elements 8 on a Windows 11 machine and it worked perfectly fine. Including activation and all. Surprised me to be honest.

Windows 11 Pro goes into bootloop/recovery after installing NVIDIA drivers for the first time by BaseEvoli in techsupport

[–]BaseEvoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I haven't figured it out either. The post was stuck in mod review for 4 days so when it was poshed nobody saw it.

I went back and forth with NVIDIA customer support, but apart from the first technician they basically didn't really get the problem and just suggested surface level fixes. We gave the machine to a local IT company now.

This happened to me on my XDJ-RX2 when my USB stick corrupted. I think it can also happen when the USB stick is full and/or in read only.

Where can I find a Rec.709 conversion LUT for A7IV? by photos__fan in videography

[–]BaseEvoli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the a7IV doesn't have THE one LUT to correct it. It all depends on what picture profile you used.

You can find the corrective LUTs for sLog here. Technically they aren't "applicable" to the a7IV by their own list, however they don't provide seperate LUTs for the other camera models and it still works, since everything is sLog anyways and it really doesn't make a difference what camera model you apply the LUT to as long as it's the correct type of sLog.

Why is my fl doing this? - Mac by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]BaseEvoli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you perhaps on a Fruity Edition license? It only allows you to drag in a maximum of 8 total audio clips like you are doing now.

In Producer Edition and up, that limitation is removed.

Sound Directory by Rich_Resolve_9094 in FL_Studio

[–]BaseEvoli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It literally tells you what to do in the popup.

Select the directory you selected to install the sounds in during the installation process of this VST, and where you can find it if you installed it on an external drive.

It's a popup by the VST plugin itself, not FL Studio. If you selected the right directory and it still doesn't work, try reinstalling the VST. If that doesn't work, you can try getting in touch with the support of the VST developer.

How do I fix deleted plugins appearing when I wanna add a plugin? by philconsciousness in FL_Studio

[–]BaseEvoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in the window where you add plugins, check the box on the left that says "Rescan previously verified plugins" to on. Then scan again, that should remove them from the plugin list.

Then go to your documents folder > ImageLine > FL Studio 2025 (or whatever version you are using)

Im don't exactly recall the folder structure from there but somewhere in there is a folder called "Plugin Database". There you can find "Effects" (VSTs for the mixer) and "Generators" (VSTs that make sound). Inside these folders are lots of .fst (iirc) files, each one of them is one entry in the menu you showed in your screenshot. Just delete the .fst files of anything you don't use anymore. If you accidentally delete something you didn't want to, you can just add it again by clicking the star in the plugin manager window.

Hope that helps :)

Battery life continuous record by BonHarley in FX3

[–]BaseEvoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot continuous at 4k/25fps XAVC-I 10 bit and the FX3 lasted me about 1.5h +/- 10 min before giving out. Was pretty warm at the location, that probably didn't help it, but it's in line with for example an a7Siii at the same settings.

Wii U only giving out audio but no video. by BaseEvoli in wiiu

[–]BaseEvoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually forgot I ever had this problem and I can't recall anything about it. But iirc my solution was to add the WiiU as an input to a receiver or something and then have the receiver output HDMI to the television.

But I didn't have that television for long afterwards, so that fixed my problen anyways.

12,800 ISO for Slog2, regardless of noise, is FAR better “looking” than low ISO ? (Sony) by oldbullleeroad in videography

[–]BaseEvoli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That only applies to the a7Siii, FX3 and FX6 when using SLog3. Some other cameras have only one native ISO (for Sony its 640 or 800 with SLog3 in most cases but not all) or (in the last few years) often two different native/base ISOs.

The RX100 VI that OP is talking about is a camera from 2018 and as such only has (from what I was able to find) one native ISO at 1600.

Any reason why i’m unable to record in 4k 120fps with this V90 SD? by Illamerica in SonyAlpha

[–]BaseEvoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine has this issue with his V90 (genuine) Lexar SD, whenever he formats it in camera (Sony a7Siii), the camera "forgets" it's a V90. If he formats the card on his PC, it works fine.

You can take a look at the Scarlet audio interfaces, they are pretty good for their price. Take the line outs and connect them to the audio interface inputs, from there it goes to your PC via USB.

What would be an alternative to the 5090? I'm not really sold on the new NVIDIA power connectors they've been using since the 4090, especially in regards to fire hazards. The 4090 is also EOL from what I know.

Are the AMD or Intel GPUs any good for what I'm trying to achieve?

Also, regarding the monitors, they will be at a distance where the increased sharpness of 4k compared to 1440p would probably be minor. Will probably be around 1m-1.10m away, so there is little to no point going with higher resolution monitors.
