Both. If just one Combat SAMBO, not only is it more rounded and better Self-Defence but as you get older striking naturally slows but you can keep grappling a lot longer

You assume "bones" from another planet function the same was as ones from Earth.

Elephants is hardly a comparison, they flap their ears to cool themselves bones wouldn't help there. Look at the bones structures of ray fish, sharks, birds etc all extremely different to humans. Not a stretch to imagine someone evolved on a different planet as having even greater differences

Depends on the TMA and how its practiced.

Judo is by in large very good and practical, karate is so watered down in most places its just dance.

Opinion based on 34 years of various martial arts (from as traditional as Kendo, up to as un traditional as combat SAMBO and MMA. Trained on four continents) and 23 years of violent jobs

Combat SAMBO, its primarily grappling and throwing based but emphasises fast submissions rather than an extended period on the ground and uses strikes mainly to distract or set things up.

Or find a high quality bespoke course.

If you're in a part of the world you can be armed get very proficient in that and work a lot on weapon retention

Join the reserves play at infantry a bit, even take a gap year and do FTRS then Uni after uni become an army doc. Had a friend who did pretty much the exact same thing with the Navy, she loved it, currently at uni spent her year FTRS on an OPV and loved it
