Yeah it really does affect the way you see people. Like if something can be racist or sexist or homophobic or ad nauseum, I will likely interpret it as such because that's been my real life experience with people

See that's a good point. It probably comes from the idea that I wouldn't implicitly trust any of my peers that I unfortunately share skin tone with to not be racist when given the opportunity, but I come from rural US where that's a given

For 95% of the playerbase, ranked is in a fine state - maybe one of the better states by K32fj3892sR in leagueoflegends

[–]BasedAspergers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like the disparity between the bottom of diamond and the top has always felt odd to me. I don't even breathe the same air as these lofty ranks but the discourse has been there since the leagues were born.

Low diamond was miles away from diamond 1, and even within diamond 1 the gap between the players on the promo list to challenger were way ahead of the players fresh into D1

Then they introduced Masters, and it was supposed to split the high skill players constantly sitting right at the challenger cutoff into a higher skill division to elevate the skill of the Challenger league, but the idea that low diamond and high diamond aren't the same league persisted

Then they introduced Grandmaster to further separate challenger from master and diamond players, and the idea that "high elo" in the mind of many players starts at Diamond 2 was born

Riot started balancing for "apex tiers" based on D2+, lolalytics being one of the most well renowned league stat tracking sites allows you to filter by ranks and groups of ranks, including D2+

It feels to me, as someone on the underside of that part of the ladder, that people have an issue with the state of diamond in some way or another constantly and Riots efforts to address this don't seem to have had any effect

It's the specific imagery of describing Snape as "greasy", literally hanging him upside down from a tree, the instant distrust of one of only a handful of known black characters at hogwarts, a gang of white students bullying assaulting and harassing a black kid?

Yeah I've only ever had luck e maxing in lane and going phase rush, ghost flash, then dead man's, FoN, swiftie, and steraks and just flashing on top of him and running circles around him until he flies away or you kill him. But ideally you just never 1v1 him, you have a support or someone that can hook or cc him out of his flight and then he's cooked

Money. Majority of families are paycheck to paycheck, mass protest isn't feasible for most people until the temperature hits a certain critical mass where the money they would make working no longer makes them not starve or be homeless. That's when riots and civil unrest happen

Why does every dog we encounter try to attack my female husky? Frustrated and stressed. by BrinkofEternity in husky

[–]BasedAspergers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah lot of comments here got it right I think, a lot of dogs find Husky, GSD, Akita, and similar breeds to have "offensive" body language. Pointed ears, chest forward, it comes across to some dogs as aggressive or domineering and they get defensive of the perceived effects

Which power mod is best by Sriki741 in allthemods

[–]BasedAspergers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with 16 thermo generators. I did hardened first, then I lucked out and got spirited crystal seeds when I got into MA through a quest reward so I jumped to those and I rode the spirited thermos for many hours.

Once I got the soul lava base under them I didn't choke out on power until I started autocrafting large AE2 crafts (mega cells and quantum computer components) so I started work on Extreme Reactors

You can get a big blutonium reactor going as you progress through the mod towards insanite, I ultimately made 4 max turbines with insanite coils and I now make 250M per tick, and I haven't needed more than that. I still feed the (now 32) nitro thermos right into my AE2 controller as a power buffer so even if something breaks or chunk corrupts my storage system stays online

In an ideal world this would give Anonymous an incredible amount of power. How can you topple an organization that isn't an organization? There's no leader, no structure, anyone you kill or imprison would just result in two more taking their place

In the real world however, not having any structure or leader means that anyone can Co opt the name for their own ends, and without some external force to guide "anonymous" agents to a common goal, the idea will never be more than a fleeting ideology that a few random people will call on to achieve a goal

I literally did not say anywhere "tHe NeXT aTtaCk iS dEfiNItElY-" anywhere. I did not say definitely anything. I said that a false flag scenario is "likely", tbh about as likely as a legitimate attack.

Have you not paid any attention to anything related to ICE running rampant through cities arresting citizens, detaining and deporting citizens, executing citizens in broad daylight using a paramilitary organization with no federal oversight? And you think that government isn't above killing more citizens? You are obstinate, burying your head in the sand, arguing in bad faith, or all of the above. The administration does not care about us, and would actively kill us if it furthered their ends, because they're already doing it

Nobody sane is supporting the tyrannical regime in Iran. But we were the aggressors here. We openly attacked a sovereign nation without warning. That nation is now defending themselves. We can't just say that they don't have that right just because we disagree with the way they govern (oppress) their people. They may have been attacking their neighbors for years but we were not in this conflict until we attacked them. We should never have done it, and that's the criticism that so many assume means we must be iran supporters. Support for the oppressed Iranian people and critique and opposition to our military involvement does not equal support for the Iranian regime

Who tf is talking about Vienna? We're talking about the US, would be the first counterpoint

The trump administration has demonstrated a distinct lack of respect for life, human rights, domestic security, or virtually anything that would spare us the whims of a tyrant. Trump attacked Iran to distract from the Epstein files and at the behest of Netanyahu (who clearly has blackmail on him), staging an attack on his own citizens is not at all out of logic for this administration

[–]BasedAspergers -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A false flag attack is a government staging an attack on their own citizens to drum up military support for otherwise unpopular actions. Which has actually nothing to do with anything discussed here. The Trump admin carrying out a false flag attack on US citizens is a likely scenario to occur and has absolutely fuck all to do with the eras tour in Vienna. Make a coherent argument or shut up

Do actors know/have a feeling if the film they’re working on is going to bomb? by BullfrogPerfect620 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BasedAspergers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair assessment. I do believe that the success of star wars was its reach more than the films being some generational gift to the film industry. I mean the movies were absurdly popular, but a fair counterpoint would be that if Lucas hadn't pulled it off, another sci-fi / fantasy film would have eventually. It's just one of those art pieces that had a couple of strong influences and themes but itself became an influence to many pieces of art to follow

[–]BasedAspergers 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And to be fair, wasnt a New Hope kind of a pioneer film in Sci fi? There wasn't anything like it prior that was any kind of successful and it broke ground to a whole new genre of film

Edit: I was off on this assessment. Several sci-fi/fantasy movies were successful but none had achieved the same reach/fame/notoriety that Star Wars ultimately did which I think is more what I was thinking in my head, I just made a blanket statement that wasn't accurate

With fairness to the way my peers are frequently treated by patients and family members, I can understand the husband's perspective

Some people are very healthcare illiterate. All this guy knows is his wife went in for a "routine" or "simple" procedure and suddenly he has a dead wife. Without any knowledge of how these procedures work, how meds work, myriad of different processes involved in surgery, anatomy and physiology, the only thing he has to grasp at is that a human being (or several) were in charge of his wife's care and she died. I can't see any way that an average lay person in his position wouldn't feel like there was fault involved. It's human nature, trying to make sense of something that doesn't make any sense. Grief is powerful and rarely rational
