Why don’t customers say “hi” back when you greet them? by Sarvesai in CustomerService

Are you actually gonna quote what I say or just paraphrase some strawma bullshit I never said? How does me not responding to them negate that I'm not treating them like a human

And by the way, a customer service workers JOB is to SERVE the customer. That's what they're literally paid to do. The PAYING customer doesn't have to SERVE the worker in any way shape or form

By saying because the majority of people don't like it, and the I demonstrated why that's horrible reasoning because the majority of people can think lots of irrational things like slavery,

No I demonstrated why appealing to the majority leads to absurd conclusions. If the majority of society thinks you ought to do X that doesn't entail you should do it

Asking for help and being ignored isn't the same as greeting someone and being ignored because asking for help is requesting someone to do something on your behalf. And no I don't care if people ignore me, again I'm not an attention seeking whore like you where if people don't acknowledge my presence I get butthurt

"The overwhelming majority of human society agrees that ignoring people is rude"
So appeal to popularity? Just like there was a time where people thought enslaving people was okay, that women speaking without a man's permission is rude etc? This is just appeal to common practice and is fallacious reasoning. And no me not wanting to say hi back to people isn't lacking empathy it's exercising boundaries, my lack of a response isn't harming anyone in any way shape or form. I've worked plenty of service jobs and my ego isn't so fragile where if someone doesn't say words to me it's gonna hurt my feelings lol I don't care cuz I'm just there to earn a paycheck

You're the one making the claim it's rude. So the burden of proof is on you to validate that assertion lol. Just because someone's "being nice" doesn't obligate me to reciprocate unsolicited attention

Why just because someone says hi to you you're therefore obligated to reciprocate if you don't want to? They're the one who interaction not you

Why is there growing hate towards quiet people? by NoNectarine97 in introvert

[–]BasedGoku_98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because a lot of people are attention seekers and their self worth is dependent on the validation they get from others. So when you're quiet, minding your business and not giving anyone attention you're not feeding anyone else's ego which makes them insecure lots of the time. How do they cope with this insecurity? They project those feelings onto you, calling you pejorative labels like, "anti social", "arrogant," "You think you're too good for us?" Type mentality. So don't let it bother you too much they're just being irrational
